Customs Trade Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Provide guidance to clients regarding tariff classification, valuation, country of origin, and eligibility for free trade agreements.

• Prepare requests for CBP Binding Rulings.

• Assist with compliance tasks including verifications, post-entry adjustments, and collaboration with CBP and Partner Government Agencies.

• Develop proposals for the scope of work.

• Identify potential risks and opportunities for refunds for clients.

• Aid in the coordination of duty drawback processes.

• Assemble customs documentation.

• Oversee post-entry submissions.

• Keep records for refunds, CBP inquiries, and entry statuses.

• Investigate and address supplemental duty bills and penalties.

• Produce reports to enhance trade operations.

• Develop content for trade-related presentations.

• Engage in team meetings and initiatives for process improvement.

• Act as a subject matter expert, mentor peers, and provide strategic advice to clients.

• Report directly to the Director of US Trade Services.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience in the customs sector.

• Certification as a Customs Specialist (CCS) is required.

• A U.S. Customs Broker License is preferred.

• Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.

• Capability to handle deadlines and manage substantial workloads.

• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to represent GHY in a professional manner with clients, colleagues, and CBP.

• Advanced understanding of tariff classification and Explanatory Notes.

• In-depth knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations (19 CFR).

• Comprehensive knowledge of valuation rules and country of origin assessments.

• Proficient in executing customs entries across all transportation modalities.

• Proficient in ACE functionality and brokerage software.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and the complete Microsoft Office Suite.

• Willingness to travel to the Pembina, ND office for training purposes.

• Availability from Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM CST (40 hours per week).
