Customs Trade Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Dakota, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Provide guidance to clients regarding tariff classification, valuation, country of origin, and eligibility for free trade agreements.

• Prepare and submit CBP Binding Ruling Requests.

• Assist with compliance initiatives, including verifications, post-entry modifications, and collaboration with CBP and Partner Government Agencies.

• Develop proposals for the scope of work.

• Identify potential risks and refund opportunities for clients.

• Aid in coordinating duty drawback activities.

• Compile necessary customs documentation.

• Oversee post-entry filings.

• Maintain records for refunds, CBP inquiries, and entry statuses.

• Investigate and address supplemental duty bills and penalties.

• Produce reports to enhance trade operations.

• Create content for trade-related presentations.

• Engage in team meetings and contribute to process enhancements.

• Act as a subject matter expert, mentor team members, and offer strategic advice to clients on intricate trade issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience in the customs sector.

• Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) certification.

• U.S. Customs Broker License is preferable.

• Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational capabilities.

• Self-driven with the capacity to handle deadlines and substantial workloads.

• Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.

• Capability to represent GHY in a professional manner with clients, peers, and CBP.

• In-depth knowledge of tariff classification and Explanatory Notes.

• Proficient understanding of U.S. Customs regulations (19 CFR).

• Advanced knowledge of valuation rules and country of origin assessments.

• Competence in processing customs entries across all transportation modes.

• Familiarity with ACE functionality and brokerage software.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the entire Microsoft Office Suite.

• Willingness to travel to the Pembina, ND office for training purposes.
