Linguist – Sinhala

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Sri Lanka.

📋 Description

• Translate content between English and Sinhala while maintaining cultural nuance and clarity.

• Edit and enhance language content for accuracy, tone, and contextual suitability across digital platforms.

• Implement current language standards, usage trends, and best practices.

• Assess and deliver structured feedback to enhance language model quality.

• Work collaboratively with Production and cross-functional teams to localize content for Sinhala-speaking markets.

• Assist in content development, localization, and quality assurance for digital tools and applications.

• Creatively modify text beyond the original when transcreation is necessary.

• Complete onboarding processes, including an application form and payment setup post-selection.

⛳️ Requirements

• Native-level proficiency in both Sinhala and English/native language translation.

• A graduate degree in translation, linguistics, or language studies, OR

• A graduate degree in a different field combined with 2 years of full-time professional translation experience, OR

• 5 years of full-time professional translation experience.

• Capability to adhere to terminology and reference materials accurately.

• Dependable availability and dedication.

• Most tasks necessitate a minimum commitment of 2 hours per day or 10 hours per week.

• An updated CV/resume in English is required.

• Candidates must pass a domain-specific test if needed.

• Contractors are responsible for managing their own tax obligations.

• Geographic restrictions may be applicable due to international embargoes or sanctions.
