This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.
• Carry out copy-editing duties on designated projects or accounts.
• Execute translation tasks as needed.
• Act as the primary linguist for assigned accounts.
• Manage deliveries translated either internally or by external partners into the target language.
• Create, oversee, and update glossaries, style guides, and work instructions in accordance with account and project quality standards.
• Address project-related inquiries.
• Clarify terminology and language queries while facilitating communication among team members.
• Collaborate with freelancers, agencies, and internal linguists.
• Evaluate and qualify new freelancers and vendors.
• Mentor and train internal linguists as well as new or existing freelancers.
• Engage with clients on linguistic issues.
• Contribute to the development of enhanced working processes and suggest improvements.
• Meet or surpass productivity, timely delivery, and quality KPIs.
• Achieve objectives set by the team manager.
• A university degree in Translation/Applied Languages/Linguistic Studies, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
• A university degree in another field plus 2 years of full-time translation experience, or 5 years of full-time professional translation experience.
• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
• Native fluency in the target language.
• Over 8 years of relevant experience in translation, localization, editing, or content writing.
• Over 5 years of experience in review processes.
• Comprehensive understanding of the localization process.
• Strong knowledge of terminology across diverse subject areas.
• Subject-matter expertise in assigned content specialties, service lines, and procedures.
• Proficient user experience with CAT tools such as XTM and SDL Studio.
• Experience using issue tracking and query management tools like JIRA.
• Ability to rapidly learn new localization tools and applications.
• Excellent user experience with Windows and Office applications.
• Capability to provide clear, concise, and constructive feedback.
• Proficient in coordinating both internal and external translators.
• Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication abilities.
• Willingness and capacity to train or educate others and share knowledge.
• Ability to operate under tight deadlines.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills.
• Competence in presenting information effectively and responding to inquiries from managers, clients, and linguists.
• Experience and willingness to communicate with customers at various levels.
• Aptitude for resolving practical issues with limited standardization.
• Ability to collaborate within a virtual team.
