
Leave of Absence and Benefits Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
β’ Supervise and manage leave requests and accommodations that require specialized handling, particularly under FMLA, ADA, state and local leave regulations, as well as short-term or long-term disability plans.
β’ Oversee the complete leave process from the initial request to the return to work, which includes handling paperwork, determining eligibility, and classifying the type of leave.
β’ Deliver prompt and clear communication to employees, HR Business Partners, and management regarding leave policies, eligibility criteria, and updates on status.
β’ Assist in processing other leave requests, including those for ADA accommodations.
β’ Manage the company's time-off programs in compliance with internal policies and relevant laws.
β’ Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and organizational policies.
β’ Investigate and resolve intricate leave-related matters and escalate issues as necessary.
β’ Keep thorough and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests.
β’ Safeguard the confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files.
β’ Collaborate with Payroll to guarantee accurate compensation, benefits continuation, and premium billing during the leave period.
β’ Remain informed about changes in federal, state, and local leave laws and adjust internal processes accordingly.
β’ Generate regular reports on leave metrics for the Director.
β’ Carry out additional related duties as assigned.
β’ Bachelor's Degree preferred.
β’ A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Leave of Absence Specialist or in a comparable position.
β’ In-depth knowledge of leave requirements and other legal protections provided by the FMLA, ADA, and other applicable federal and state laws.
β’ Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
β’ Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
β’ Outstanding organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
β’ Valid authorization to work in the United States.
