This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.

📋 Description

• Take the initiative to determine the best approach to fulfill client deliverables in line with each project's contractual scope of work.

• Execute HR compliance audits.

• Develop and analyze policies.

• Conduct compensation and benefits assessments.

• Offer HR coaching and advisory services.

• Implement employee benefits.

• Carry out investigations.

• Support initiatives that enhance workplace culture, including reviews and evaluations.

• Organize client meetings and deliver results as per established timelines.

• Create high-quality work products and deliver client services without using generative AI.

• Independently produce expert-level client deliverables or collaborate effectively within a team.

• Respond to internal Slack inquiries and external client emails within a two-business-day timeframe.

• Proactively draft agendas and arrange client meetings.

• Send tasks and reminders following meetings.

• Maintain thorough notes and manage follow-up tasks effectively.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of five years of experience as a consultant or director in People Operations, Human Resources, hiring/recruitment, team management, workplace policy development, or a similar role.

• If self-employment is your sole HR experience, three positive client references and three work samples are required.

• Experience in leading organizational HR compliance and risk management efforts.

• Proven track record in interpreting employment requirements and developing compliant policies and practices.

• Ability to identify potential risks and guide organizational leaders in resolving compliance issues.

• Expertise in designing and/or implementing people-first policies focused on inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility.

• Experience in creating and/or managing compensation strategies, including salary benchmarking, benefits planning, and setting and evaluating performance metrics.

• Proficient understanding of HR technologies and platforms, including HRIS systems and performance management tools, or readiness to learn new technologies.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.

• Capability to create proprietary work products independently without generative AI.

• Proactive in building agendas and facilitating meetings.

• Strong interpersonal skills, adept in multi-stakeholder communications and active listening.

• Capacity to serve as an accountability partner, fulfilling commitments and meeting deadlines.

• Comfort with adapting and problem-solving as situations evolve.

• Ability to keep the calendar up to date and manage time and workload efficiently.

• Skill in translating overall project direction into actionable daily steps.

• Willingness to consistently give and receive constructive feedback.

• Proficiency in fully remote work settings, including Zoom, Google Workspace, and other remote work tools.

• Availability for up to 15 hours per week spread over at least three business days, between 9 AM and 6 PM in the candidate's time zone, Monday through Friday.

• Commitment to work at least 46 weeks per contract year; 23 weeks are required during the initial six-month contract.

• Previous consulting experience, knowledge of pro-worker management, union membership, and Collective Bargaining Agreements; ATS experience; facilitation, mediation, and conflict resolution skills; and HR experience in nonprofit, foundation, and/or social justice organizing contexts are advantageous but not mandatory.

• Additional pay of $10-$20 per hour for leading group work.

• $60 per hour for internal/non-client activities that enhance the firm's operations.

• Bonuses available for referring work to the firm.

• Increased pay differential for fluency in a second language and its application with clients or proficiency in ASL.

• Option for contract renewal following evaluation.

• Salary increase of $20-$30 per hour upon promotion to Senior Consultant after review and completion of 500 hours of client work.
