Leather Material Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Italy, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Create, benchmark, and archive high-quality leather materials for handbags, small leather items, belts, and accessories.

• Develop and sustain a centralized Leather Library to ensure uniformity and promote innovation.

• Establish and enforce stringent quality standards for leather performance, durability, and visual appeal.

• Collaborate with QA/QC teams to resolve defects, color discrepancies, and wear-related issues.

• Identify and assess global leather suppliers to ensure traceability and ethical sourcing practices.

• Oversee vendor performance, negotiate agreements, and drive ongoing enhancements in material quality.

• Work closely with design, product development, and supply chain teams to align material innovation with brand identity.

• Offer technical expertise to facilitate new product launches and premium collections.

• Monitor supply chain risks and guarantee compliance with sustainability and regulatory requirements.

• Implement traceability systems to enhance transparency and accountability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Material Science, Leather Technology, or a related discipline.

• Over 8 years of experience in leather material development, sourcing, or QA/QC within luxury or premium brands.

• In-depth knowledge of leather tanning, finishing, and testing techniques.

• Proven success in vendor management and optimizing supply chains.

• Outstanding communication and negotiation skills; ability to work collaboratively across global teams.

• Strong passion for craftsmanship, innovation, and sustainability in leather products.
