Learning Experience Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +30 more states.

📋 Description

• Create and implement innovative digital learning experiences, resources for capacity building, and performance support solutions for Wikimedia contributors.

• Collaborate with product teams, community organizations, researchers, and subject matter experts to assess learning requirements and challenges faced by contributors.

• Identify suitable formats such as self-paced courses, videos, interactive experiences, AI-driven support, workshops, and embedded guidance.

• Develop educational experiences that encompass new tools, workflows, policies, governance processes, and community practices within Wikimedia projects.

• Quickly prototype, test, and refine using contemporary authoring tools, multimedia, and AI technologies.

• Employ learning science, user-centered design, and learning experience design principles.

• Assess effectiveness using learner feedback, participation statistics, and both qualitative and quantitative insights.

• Contribute to the Foundation’s learning strategy and pinpoint opportunities to enhance learning offerings.

• Ensure that resources embody Wikimedia’s principles of openness, collaboration, equity, and knowledge sharing.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in designing and developing digital learning experiences for a diverse global audience.

• Established track record in creating engaging e-learning, instructor-led, virtual, or blended learning solutions.

• Proficiency in using a learning management system (LMS) to create, organize, and publish educational content.

• Capability to identify skill gaps, determine suitable interventions, and swiftly design, build, and enhance learning experiences.

• Strong written communication and content development abilities.

• Skill in simplifying complex concepts for varied audiences.

• Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders and subject matter experts.

• Commitment to accessibility, inclusive design, and culturally responsive learning methodologies.

• For non-US candidates: valid work authorization in the location of hire.

• Preferred: background in volunteer communities, open knowledge initiatives, nonprofits, or international organizations.

• Preferred: experience in designing learning for multilingual audiences and collaborating across different cultures and time zones.

• Preferred: familiarity with tools such as Rise, Storyline, Camtasia, Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, video editing software, AI content generation platforms, or similar technologies.

• Preferred: experience partnering with product teams or applying product design methodologies.

• Preferred: knowledge of experimentation techniques, A/B testing, learning analytics, product analytics, and continuous improvement practices.

• Preferred: understanding of Wikimedia projects, the Wikimedia movement, or open-source communities.
