This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Arab Emirates (UAE).
• Take ownership of backend architecture across two extensive microservice platforms, featuring over 30 and 25 services, respectively.
• Lead the integration efforts with payment providers, card issuers, blockchain networks, and various third-party APIs.
• Ensure integration reliability in a production environment.
• Identify performance bottlenecks, design caching solutions, optimize database queries, and support the scalability of the platform.
• Make architectural choices, assess trade-offs, and shape engineering standards and technical direction.
• Alleviate some responsibilities of the Tech Lead by making independent technical decisions.
• Develop and enhance AI-driven operational and development workflows.
• Allocate approximately 20% of your time to working on React-based back-office admin dashboards.
• Manage features thoroughly from the initial planning and architectural design phase through to implementation, testing, monitoring, and enhancement.
• Collaborate with Product, QA, Frontend, Mobile, and other cross-functional teams.
• Generate technical documentation, engage in code reviews, and disseminate knowledge within the team.
• Participate in a shared on-call rotation, approximately one week each month.
• Aim to deliver your first production features within 30 days.
• Independently lead a complex integration or significant feature within 60 days.
• Make architectural decisions and influence the technical direction within 90 days.
• Over 5 years of production experience in backend development using TypeScript/Node.js as the main stack.
• At least 2 years of production experience with NestJS, including modules, providers, middleware, guards, interceptors, and microservice architecture with custom transports.
• Experience with blockchain technology involving on-chain transactions, multiple networks, and management of real user funds.
• Knowledge of HD wallets (BIP32/BIP39), smart contracts, ABI, ERC-20/SPL tokens, and the differences between account-based and UTXO models.
• Proficiency with ethers.js, viem, and solana/web3.js.
• Regular daily use of AI tools such as Claude, Copilot, or Cursor.
• Experience in optimizing business or organizational processes using AI/LLMs.
• Strong expertise in PostgreSQL, covering schema design, indexing, query optimization, zero-downtime migrations, and database-per-service patterns.
• Hands-on experience with microservices, including RPC, pub/sub, message brokers, idempotency, eventual consistency, and saga/outbox patterns.
• Background in system design, encompassing service decomposition, API contracts, data-flow architecture, and capacity planning.
• Production experience with intricate third-party APIs, payment systems, or similar external service integrations.
• Performance engineering experience, including profiling, caching, load analysis, and identifying performance bottlenecks.
• Strong testing discipline, utilizing Jest for unit tests, integration tests with real databases, and testing in microservices.
• A security-conscious mindset suitable for fintech and crypto systems that handle real user funds.
• Technical research capabilities to evaluate trade-offs, test hypotheses, and make data-driven architectural decisions.
• Proficiency in English at an Upper-Intermediate level.
• Fluency in the Russian language.
• Preferred skills: Experience with NATS JetStream, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, pino, Kubernetes/Kustomize/Helm, PCI DSS, GDPR, KYC/AML, payment systems, mentoring, and basic React knowledge.
