Lead Technical Project Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee technical planning, alignment of architecture, management of schedules, and execution for one or more NASA projects.

• Ensure that project activities take into account engineering constraints, system lifecycles, technical readiness, and solution architecture.

• Identify and troubleshoot technical challenges in collaboration with engineering and technical subject matter experts (SMEs).

• Question and evaluate technical decisions and workflows.

• Collaborate with Engineering, Service Management, Infrastructure Operations, Security, Logistics, and SACM teams.

• Establish requirements, acceptance criteria, dependencies, external interfaces, technical measures, and constraints.

• Recognize risks and implement strategies to mitigate them.

• Act as the technical liaison to WCS, OCIO, COR, center IT stakeholders, and SMEs.

• Manage technical documentation, governance, compliance, testing, validation, and readiness for deployment.

• Direct the implementation of project management under NASA and Leidos governance.

• Deliver technical reports, risk summaries, dependency notifications, and schedule updates to the PMO, Chief Engineer, DPM, and COR.

• Mentor and develop project managers into technical project managers through training plans, technical immersion, mentoring, and engagement with engineering.

• Assist in proposal efforts for contract growth, which includes defining scope, scheduling, and estimating costs.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field, accompanied by 12 or more years of experience as a Technical Project Manager; additional relevant experience may be considered in place of a degree.

• A solid grasp of technical project management principles, tools, and methodologies, including scheduling, risk management, configuration management, and requirements management.

• Significant experience in managing intricate, multi-disciplinary technical projects within the aerospace, defense, or similarly demanding engineering sectors.

• Proven experience working collaboratively with engineering, program leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders.

• Capability to coordinate with program leadership, engineering discipline leads, and key technical stakeholders from the customer side.

• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to distill complex technical information for varied audiences.

• Demonstrated experience in coaching and developing project management or technical professionals.

• U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

• Prior experience with NASA, familiarity with NASA Technical Authority, lifecycle review experience, long-term technical investment experience, and PMP Certification are preferred.
