This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.
• Oversee both proactive and reactive communications encompassing PR, internal communications, social media, customer outreach, public affairs, and crisis management.
• Create narratives, messaging frameworks, and content that align with Pearson’s corporate goals and business strategies.
• Provide support for Pearson’s Virtual Learning initiatives while linking activities to Career Readiness, Workforce Readiness, and AI Innovation.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across Marketing, Product, Sales, Media Relations, Government Relations, HR, and Corporate Communications.
• Identify forthcoming launches, conferences, campaigns, opportunities, and potential reputational risks, ensuring appropriate teams are coordinated and informed.
• Prepare senior leadership for media engagements, events, presentations, and all-hands meetings through briefing documents, talk tracks, presentations, and supplementary communications materials.
• Offer communications assistance for executive leadership engagements, including presentations, internal messaging, and executive social media content.
• Oversee planning and response activities for issues and crisis communications.
• Monitor media, stakeholder sentiment, and reputational risks, utilizing insights to guide communications strategies and recommendations.
• Produce polished, executive-ready documents in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
• Support Pearson’s North America operations while working collaboratively within a global organization.
• Extensive experience in Corporate, Strategic, or Integrated Communications, rather than focusing on a single-channel communication specialization.
• Demonstrated ability to merge strategic communications planning with practical execution.
• Strong skills in narrative development and experience in tailoring key messages for various audiences while ensuring message coherence.
• Experience engaging with diverse stakeholder groups, including customers, employees, policymakers, investors, and senior leaders.
• Significant B2B communications experience.
• Background in supporting executive communications, leadership events, media preparation, and thought leadership initiatives.
• Proven experience managing issues, reputational challenges, or crisis communications in a complex organizational environment.
• Proactive approach with the capability to spot opportunities, connect stakeholders, and drive initiatives forward without waiting for detailed guidance.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
• Practical understanding of AI in communications, SEO, AEO, GEO, and the strategic application of social media.
• Additional experience in B2B2C or consumer-facing communications would be a plus.
• A background in Education, Higher Education, EdTech, or other regulated industries would be particularly appealing.
• Experience in Corporate Communications within consulting or professional services firms like Accenture, McKinsey, BCG, or similar organizations would be especially advantageous.
• Experience in Public Affairs, Government Relations, or reputation management would be particularly beneficial.
• Eligible to participate in an annual incentive program.
