Lead Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Oversee intricate multi-domain software development projects for autonomous vessels and ground systems.

• Coordinate maritime software efforts among design teams located in the UK and Europe.

• Direct the strategic roadmap for existing product lines.

• Spearhead the development of new software initiatives.

• Engage with third-party subcontractors and suppliers for project integration.

• Collaborate across front-end GUIs, middleware, embedded systems, firmware, and simulation technologies.

• Provide technical guidance and leadership for multiple product development projects.

• Design and implement innovative software solutions utilizing emergent technologies.

• Manage and enhance software engineering processes for improved outcomes.

• Develop high-level conceptual designs for both application-level and embedded software products.

• Perform make-versus-buy analysis and negotiate terms with suppliers and subcontractors.

• Offer advice to Systems and Electrical teams regarding hosting platforms, from PCs to embedded systems.

• Assist in and participate in field testing and demonstrations alongside defence partners.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in leading complex integration and development programs.

• Strong foundation in Software Engineering principles and best practices.

• Familiarity with Software Engineering standards applicable to civilian, automotive, and defence sectors.

• Knowledge of multi-stage Validation & Verification techniques.

• Understanding of simulation techniques and targets, including software regression targets and Hardware-in-Loop platforms.

• Comprehension of communication pathways such as Ethernet and Fieldbus.

• Grasp of real-time control techniques and their limitations.

• Awareness of Application (Linux), Embedded, and Firmware platforms.

• Exceptional problem-solving skills in high-pressure, resource-limited settings.

• Strong communication abilities and a capacity to collaborate effectively in multi-disciplinary teams.

• Must meet eligibility requirements for UK Security Clearance.

• Willingness to travel to the South West England area as needed.
