Lead QA Automation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the QA strategy in collaboration with the VP of Engineering.

• Establish the quality standards, encompassing entry and exit criteria, coverage, and release readiness.

• Standardize reporting practices across various delivery teams.

• Prioritize testing coverage based on risk, concentrating on critical business functionalities.

• Develop, manage, and sustain automated regression testing across web applications and services.

• Select and manage automation tools while establishing maintainable suite conventions.

• Execute test suites continuously for every change and ensure the reliability of results.

• Oversee, mentor, and nurture QA engineers.

• Be responsible for quality outcomes throughout the function, including escaped defects, coverage, and release confidence.

• Collaborate with Engineering and Product teams from requirements gathering to release, working closely with delivery teams.

• Report directly to the VP of Engineering.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in QA/test engineering, with at least 5 years focused on test automation.

• Proven experience in owning quality outcomes for a team or function.

• Background in managing and mentoring other QA engineers.

• History of establishing testing strategies and standards and successfully implementing them organization-wide.

• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain an automated regression suite from inception.

• Extensive hands-on experience with at least one automation platform, such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Ghost Inspector, Testim, Katalon, or mabl.

• Proficient with code: capable of reading, scripting, and debugging tests.

• Must be based in Canada and eligible to work in the country.
