This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +31 more states.
• Develop and refine the product security strategy for the Wikimedia Foundation, enhancing the organization's security culture.
• Identify and prioritize initiatives for engineers dedicated to security and privacy.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers, data scientists, community managers, and more.
• Lead the design and implementation of technical features and measures that enhance user safety and mitigate platform vulnerabilities.
• Engage in strategic and transparent communication with community members regarding security efforts.
• Build collaborative relationships with volunteers and represent the Wikimedia community and Foundation concerning security and privacy matters.
• Work alongside leaders from various departments to influence the Foundation's information security framework.
• Stay informed about advancements in online security and privacy, including research and development on vulnerabilities.
• Report directly to the Group Product Manager for Safety and Security.
• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in product development teams, with at least 2 years in a security-focused position.
• Proven track record of driving major security initiatives to completion in a senior technical or product management role.
• Extensive experience utilizing AI-based tools for security assessments, code reviews, software engineering, and other technical activities.
• Proficient in using and learning command-line tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to effectively interact with all levels of management, staff, and community members.
• Skilled in managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
• Strong belief in the value of Wikipedia and its community model.
• Capable of making decisive choices in complex stakeholder scenarios.
• Experience engaging with online communities, particularly public ones.
