This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Oversee process engineering initiatives for FEED, detailed engineering, and digital solution projects that incorporate Advanced Process Control.
• Execute site surveys, process walkdowns, operational data collection, and assessments of process performance.
• Analyze and interpret PFDs, P&IDs, operating philosophies, process data, DCS configurations, and historical plant information.
• Define process operating envelopes, identify constraints, bottlenecks, and optimization possibilities.
• Conduct process engineering, mass and energy balance, hydraulic, and other computations to confirm design modifications and APC implementations.
• Create process design bases, descriptions, narratives, APC control philosophies, FAT/SAT procedures, and KPI/performance reports.
• Carry out instrumentation and measurement-gap evaluations necessary for APC implementation.
• Develop and validate baseline KPIs for evaluating APC performance.
• Identify and rationalize Controlled Variables, Manipulated Variables, and Disturbance Variables for APC applications.
• Convert process objectives into MPC/APC control strategies and optimization goals.
• Aid in the development and validation of dynamic and multivariable process models.
• Examine plant step-test data to ascertain process gains, dead times, dynamics, and variable interactions.
• Assist in the creation of inferential/soft sensors when physical analyzers are not available.
• Review APC model performance and suggest improvements for models and controllers.
• Work collaboratively with APC engineers to ensure models accurately reflect actual plant operations.
• Identify limitations in process equipment performance and operational constraints.
• Assess existing regulatory control strategies and pinpoint APC implementation opportunities.
• Provide support for PID tuning, cascade, and ratio control strategy development.
• Review control loop performance and the health of controllers.
• Specify APC/DCS interface requirements, alarms, operating limits, and interlocks in collaboration with Instrumentation, Control, and DCS engineers.
• Evaluate HMI/control graphics and operational procedures from a process viewpoint.
• Engage in FAT, SAT, site commissioning, plant step testing, and the deployment of APC.
• Validate APC models against real plant behavior and assist in transitioning from open-loop testing to closed-loop APC operations.
• Monitor APC KPIs and enhance controller and model performance.
• Troubleshoot process-related APC issues during commissioning and performance phases.
• Support customer training, technical documentation, and the final project handover.
• Lead and coordinate process engineering tasks across multidisciplinary project teams and client stakeholders.
• 6–8 years of pertinent process engineering experience.
• A minimum of 3+ years of experience in process optimization, APC, MPC, process control, or plant performance engineering is preferred.
• Experience in mining, cement, metals, or other continuous process sectors is strongly preferred.
• Significant Oil & Gas/refinery process engineering experience combined with APC expertise will also be considered.
• Familiarity with DCS, process historians, online analyzers, and plant instrumentation is highly desirable.
• Experience with APC/MPC platforms such as Aspen DMC3, Honeywell Profit, Yokogawa APC, or similar is highly preferred.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong foundation in chemical/process engineering, advanced process control, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and process dynamics.
• Solid understanding of APC/MPC concepts, process optimization, and control strategies.
• Excellent process data analysis, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Capability to work with large historical/process datasets and identify correlations and optimization opportunities.
• Strong grasp of process constraints, operational limits, and optimization goals.
• Expert-level proficiency in Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, or equivalent process simulation software.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for engineering calculations and data analysis.
• Familiarity with process historian and plant data analysis tools.
• Knowledge of Python, MATLAB, or similar tools for process and data analysis is an advantage.
• Strong skills in technical report writing and engineering documentation.
• Ability to independently analyze complex process challenges and develop practical, commercially viable solutions.
• Excellent communication and technical presentation abilities.
• Capacity to lead process engineering initiatives and effectively coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage effectively with clients, plant operations, and engineering teams.
