Lead Platform Architect / Technical Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design the framework for a secure, scalable, multi-tenant enterprise SaaS platform.

• Collaborate with senior engineers to produce high-quality software.

• Define the domain and data architecture.

• Create systems for authentication, authorization, tenant isolation, and role-based permissions.

• Establish the architecture for APIs and integrations.

• Design secure methods for managing sensitive information and documents.

• Set standards for auditability and transaction history.

• Determine cloud architecture and deployment strategies.

• Develop engineering standards, code review practices, testing protocols, and documentation guidelines.

• Implement CI/CD, observability, monitoring, and production support practices.

• Make informed decisions regarding build versus buy options.

• Assess technical assets and advise on what to retain, refactor, or replace.

• Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and mentoring the initial engineering team.

• Convert business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

• Foster an engineering culture that emphasizes ownership, quality, speed, and accountability.

• Report directly to KENTECH's Founder & CEO.

• Initially allocate approximately 60–70% of time on architecture and hands-on engineering, 20–25% on technical leadership/design/code review, and 10–15% on hiring, mentoring, planning, and technical strategy.

• Gain a comprehensive understanding of KENTECH's business and operational landscape.

• Define target architecture, technology stack choices, platform/security/data/integration architecture, engineering environments, delivery processes, and testing standards.

• Start delivering production-quality platform capabilities and establish a repeatable foundation for future products.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of professional software engineering experience.

• Extensive experience in roles such as Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, Lead Engineer, Platform Architect, Technical Lead, or similar positions.

• Proven track record of designing and building production SaaS applications.

• Experience in developing multi-tenant systems.

• Strong expertise in backend engineering.

• Comprehensive understanding of modern frontend and application architecture.

• In-depth knowledge of relational databases and data modeling.

• Experience designing APIs and enterprise integration patterns.

• Strong grasp of authentication, authorization, RBAC, and application security.

• Experience handling sensitive or regulated data.

• Background in building software within compliance-oriented environments such as SOC 2, CJIS, FedRAMP, HIPAA, PCI, or equivalent.

• Extensive AWS experience in designing and operating secure production systems in regulated environments.

• Familiarity with establishing CI/CD and modern software delivery methodologies.

• Experience with automated testing, monitoring, and production debugging.

• Ability to independently assess architectural trade-offs.

• Demonstrated capability to personally produce production-quality software.

• Must successfully complete a comprehensive background investigation as a condition of employment.

• Additional personnel security requirements may apply based on system access and customer demands.

• Comfortable working in a modern cloud-native environment, potentially including TypeScript/JavaScript, React/Next.js, Node.js or similar backend technologies, PostgreSQL, AWS, Docker, Infrastructure as Code, REST APIs, CI/CD, automated testing, and cloud monitoring/observability.
