This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct piping engineering and analysis assessments in compliance with the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, ASME B31.1, ASME B31.7, and other relevant regulations.

• Implement vibration monitoring and analysis for modifications in plants and during operational events.

• Develop solutions and designs for vibration prevention and mitigation.

• Analyze hydraulic transients and the effects of thermal stratification.

• Conduct operability assessments and qualify piping for hydrodynamic loading.

• Execute pipe rupture assessments, evaluate pipe wall thinning due to FAC or MIC, and perform pipe flaw assessments.

• Offer senior-level technical oversight and direction to project team members.

• Establish schedules and budgets for project tasks within the discipline.

• Coordinate activities across different disciplines.

• Ensure the successful delivery of project outputs that meet technical, quality, and project control standards.

• Act as a technical liaison with clients and serve as the primary technical resource on projects.

• Review intricate calculations and approve straightforward calculations.

• Provide technical direction to project team members.

• Review and authorize simple system/structural designs and prepare as well as review more complex designs.

• Conduct engineering reviews of drawings and evaluate design inputs.

• Clarify client expectations for drawings and coordinate design-engineering interactions.

• Participate in design reviews to assure quality, constructability, and operational functionality.

• Prepare and review specifications for systems, installations, and materials.

• Define both technical and commercial requirements, including vendor-submittal timelines.

• Conduct bid evaluations and engage in vendor bid negotiations.

• Assess client change orders as necessary.

• Prepare and review complex reports/studies for single disciplines and take part in multidisciplinary reports.

• Evaluate studies and reports for technical integrity, cost-efficiency, and effective communication.


⛳️ Requirements

• A BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Aerospace, or Structural/Civil Engineering from a program accredited by the ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission.

• Specialization in solid mechanics, structural analysis, elasticity theory, metallurgy, and finite element analysis.

• A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.

• In-depth understanding of ASME B31.1 and ASME B&PV Section III piping codes.

• Familiarity with the design, selection, and application of pipe supporting components.

• Practical knowledge of commercially available piping products and their uses.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Must possess authorization to work in the U.S.; Sargent & Lundy does not sponsor work authorization for employees in the U.S.

• A P.E. license is preferred but not mandatory.

• Proficiency in navigating a 3D CAD model is preferred but not essential.

• Experience with AutoPIPE or PIPESTRESS software is advantageous but not required.

• Understanding of gas dynamics and hydraulic transients is a plus but not mandatory.

• Knowledge of pipe condition assessment is beneficial but not required.

• Familiarity with ANSYS Workbench and Mechanical ADP is advantageous but not essential.
