Lead Mechanical Engineer, Senior

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Oversee mechanical work packages and distribute tasks within the mechanical team.

• Create and evaluate redesign concepts for packaging structures, roof/base skid, cell components, piping, fittings, scrubber vessel, and ongoing issues.

• Facilitate design reviews, resolve problems, engage in supplier DFM discussions, and make cross-functional decisions.

• Ensure designs uphold critical interfaces and maintain backward compatibility when necessary.

• Examine CAD files, drawings, GD&T, tolerance analyses, BOMs, cost estimates, and validation plans.

• Coordinate inputs from FEA, CFD, plastics, materials, electrical, manufacturing, and sourcing teams.

• Play a key role in the development of an Iron Air Battery, a large-scale energy storage solution, serving as the mechanical DFX lead for cost, manufacturability, design integration, and technical delivery.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics Engineering, or related disciplines.

• Over 7 years of experience in mechanical product development, including technical ownership of intricate assemblies.

• Proven experience in product design from initial concept through detailed design, verification, release, and production support.

• Proficient understanding of GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFM/DFA, DFMEA, and engineering change control processes.

• Capability to articulate technical tradeoffs, risks, and recommendations across design, manufacturing, analysis, suppliers, and customers.

• Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks for parts, assemblies, drawings, configurations, and design modifications.

• Experience with PLM/PDM systems and formal release procedures.

• Demonstrated experience in cost reduction, supplier collaboration, and technical leadership.

• Ability to integrate CAD, CAE results, supplier feedback, validation planning, and cost data into design decisions.

• Familiarity with structures, sheet metal, welded assemblies, piping, fittings, plastics, tolerance analysis, and mechanical interfaces.

• English proficiency at levels B2–C1.
