Lead Mechanical Engineer – Nuclear

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Engage in the design of systems for nuclear power plants.

• Create or assess modification packages for operational nuclear power facilities.

• Develop or evaluate functional mechanical drawings and schematics for nuclear power plant systems.

• Generate or review engineering analyses and evaluations that support modifications and operation of plant systems.

• Draft or assess technical specifications and procurement documents for plant equipment.

• Conduct evaluations of vendor bids for plant equipment.

• Carry out studies and option evaluations for modifications to existing nuclear power plants.

• Formulate engineering cost estimates for small to medium-sized client-requested work scopes.

• Visit client offices and/or plant locations to interface with clients and provide updates on engineering tasks and statuses.

• Lead teams working on engineering projects.

• Spearhead automation and process improvement initiatives relating to engineering workflows, calculations, technical documentation, and design documentation.

• Provide guidance on the appropriate use of AI or agentic AI tools, ensuring the accuracy of results.


⛳️ Requirements

• No sponsorship for U.S. work authorization is available.

• BS or MS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from a program accredited by ABET.

• Academic background in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer.

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in the power sector.

• Proficiency in codes, standards, and regulations relevant to mechanical engineering design for nuclear power plants.

• PE license is advantageous, though not mandatory.

• Willingness or capability to lead teams using modern tools, including automation and AI.

• Experience overseeing engineers programming or scripting in Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel is appreciated but not essential.
