This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Supervise a small team of instructional designers managing multiple concurrent courses.
β’ Assess course plans, course guide batches, and LMS builds to ensure they meet client standards and checklists.
β’ Deliver detailed design feedback regarding outcomes, assessments, and the variety of activities.
β’ Approve work prior to client submission and return any work that is not ready.
β’ Review constructed courses against the approved blueprints.
β’ Verify that interactive elements function correctly within the LMS.
β’ Make design choices regarding build inquiries.
β’ Uphold accessibility and client design standards throughout all courses.
β’ Participate in client calls to present design decisions, clarify trade-offs, and gather feedback.
β’ Join ID and SME calls as required.
β’ Train and onboard contract designers on client templates, review processes, and standards.
β’ Collaborate with the project manager on sequencing, risk management, and establishing realistic timelines.
β’ Proactively escalate scope or capacity issues as they arise.
β’ Maintain visible review status within the project management system.
β’ Utilize Alchemy's systems and client systems, which include Google Workspace, Slack, the project system, and the client's LMS.
β’ Assess where AI-generated content meets quality standards and where it falls short.
β’ Several years of experience in designing courses, including independently managing projects from start to finish.
β’ Proven experience in reviewing the work of other designers and providing direct, actionable feedback.
β’ Strong judgment regarding outcome alignment, assessment design, and project scope.
β’ Familiarity with learning management systems, particularly Canvas and Brightspace.
β’ Understanding of how design choices can succeed or fail during the build phase.
β’ Comfort in client-facing situations, including the delivery of difficult news.
β’ Capacity to manage multiple courses simultaneously and recognize which projects may be at risk of delay.
β’ Degree in education, instructional design, instructional technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
β’ Experience in leading contract or freelance designers rather than employees (preferred).
β’ Experience onboarding designers into an active project (preferred).
β’ Familiarity with Articulate Storyline, Rise, or H5P (preferred).
β’ Quality Matters certification or similar credentials (preferred).
β’ Proficient in using Google Workspace, Slack, the project system, and the client's LMS.
β’ Ability to evaluate AI-generated content against established quality standards.
β’ Capability to respond to emails and Slack messages within one business day.
β’ Ability to complete reviews within the timeframe stipulated in the contract.
β’ Compensation is provided at defined milestones based on the specified project scope.
β’ Contracted on a per-project basis under a work-for-hire agreement.
β’ Regular weekly commitment as opposed to sporadic intensive efforts.
