Instructional Design Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Create, develop, and sustain engaging and effective learning programs.

• Oversee the complete instructional design process for intricate, high-impact learning initiatives, from needs assessment to evaluation.

• Manage scope, sequencing, and trade-offs across various projects while ensuring quality and delivery commitments are met.

• Design learning ecosystems that incorporate social, experiential, and digital reinforcement in line with the 70/20/10 model.

• Employ Action Mapping and performance consulting techniques to facilitate measurable behavior change.

• Collaborate with subject matter experts, project managers, frontline leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders.

• Convert business objectives into effective learning strategies and identify performance gaps.

• Create assessments and evaluation plans.

• Analyze outcomes based on Kirkpatrick Levels 1–3 and relate insights to business performance.

• Contribute to content governance, peer review processes, and instructional design standards.

• Update and enhance learning programs in response to product updates, process changes, and business priorities.

• Utilize Claude/OpenAI and other AI tools to design, create, and refine asynchronous learning content.

• Generate basic multimedia assets, including screen recordings, short-form videos, and AI-assisted voiceover content.

• Assist Thumbtack’s Field Enablement team in enhancing frontline team proficiency and the overall experience provided to professionals and customers.

⛳️ Requirements

• 4–6 years of experience in instructional design, curriculum development, or performance consulting.

• Preferably experience in a high-growth tech or call center environment.

• Strong portfolio showcasing ownership of complex learning programs and diverse instructional modalities.

• Proficiency in instructional design models such as ADDIE and SAM.

• Understanding of adult learning theory.

• Familiarity with Action Mapping or performance consulting methodologies.

• Practical experience using AI tools like Claude/OpenAI for creating asynchronous learning content.

• Builder-level fluency in integrating AI into a design workflow.

• Strong project management abilities and stakeholder collaboration skills.

• Capacity to independently manage projects from needs analysis through to evaluation.

• Ability to work collaboratively across functions with Product, Engineering, and Operations teams.

• Competence in clearly communicating design rationale to diverse audiences.

• A learner-first approach with a commitment to continuous improvement, experimentation, and high-quality design standards.

• Must be able to work from an eligible supported location in the United States, Ontario, Canada, or the Philippines.
