Lead Instructional Designer

📋 Description

• Lead the instructional design strategy as a technical innovator and key driver for intricate learning projects.

• Collaborate with Technical Writing to synchronize product documentation and educational pathways.

• Manage the transition from Skilljar to a custom-developed Learning Management System (LMS).

• Establish LMS system requirements, authoring processes, learner experience, and platform functionalities.

• Direct external developers, product managers, and subject matter experts.

• Create scalable design systems, style guides, and AI-enhanced content workflows.

• Design technical learning pathways, role-specific certifications, and self-directed academies.

• Develop scenario-based interactive experiences, simulated environments, sandbox exercises, and API/code walkthroughs.

• Convert product updates and technical specifications into precise learning materials.

• Monitor learner telemetry, product uptake, time-to-value, course completion rates, certification pass rates, and return on investment (ROI).

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in instructional design within a B2B SaaS, developer tools, or fast-paced tech setting.

• Demonstrated project management skills in leading cross-functional initiatives as an independent contributor.

• Practical experience in defining requirements for LMS implementations, migrations, or custom solutions.

• Strong knowledge of SCORM, xAPI, and LTI standards.

• Proficient in navigating API documentation, cloud infrastructures, developer processes, or SaaS platform configurations.

• Advanced skills in Articulate 360, Camtasia, Loom, and Figma.

• Experience with transitioning from Customer Education / Learning Experience Platforms (LXP) like Skilljar to tailored environments.

• Familiarity with Agile development practices, rapid prototyping (SAM), and data-driven decision-making.

• Outstanding skills in managing cross-functional stakeholders and providing consultative influence.

• Must possess legal authorization to work in Canada or the United States.
