Lead Financial Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Conduct intricate financial analyses, accounting research, internal financial reporting, and strategic business support.

• Assess monthly general ledger journal entries for precision and supporting documentation.

• Investigate, interpret, and apply accounting policies and procedures.

• Analyze the accounting consequences of strategic initiatives and business decisions.

• Review and generate analytical explanations for general ledger and financial statement discrepancies.

• Enhance financial reporting through modifications and improvements.

• Create actionable financial analyses for Finance leadership and executive stakeholders.

• Evaluate complex monthly general ledger account reconciliations.

• Produce and maintain precise monthly internal financial reports.

• Collaborate with business leaders to deliver financial insights.

• Ensure internal controls are designed and functioning effectively.

• Maintain policies, procedures, flowcharts, and internal controls.

• Complete quarterly self-assessments.

• Lead efforts to strengthen controls, mitigate risk, enhance efficiency, and automate manual processes.

• Prepare supporting schedules for financial statements.

• Spearhead complex cross-functional projects with Finance, Accounting, Engineering, and Operations.

• Provide guidance, coaching, and subject matter expertise to analysts and team members.

• Act as the functional lead for designated accounting and financial reporting processes.

• Assist in prioritizing and assigning team workloads while reviewing complex analyses and deliverables.

• Collaborate with the Accounting Manager to ensure timely, high-quality results.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.

• Minimum of 8 years of relevant finance and accounting experience.

• Proven experience leading intricate projects, initiatives, or workstreams.

• Experience in researching accounting issues and interpreting U.S. GAAP.

• Proficient in crafting financial analytics for executive-level audiences.

• Experience in designing and implementing process enhancements.

• Strong proficiency in MS Excel.

• Required degrees must be obtained from accredited institutions of higher education.

• Must not require current or future sponsorship to work legally for Credit Acceptance.

• Preferred: Master’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.

• Preferred: Certified Public Accountant or equivalent, such as Chartered Accountant.

• Preferred: Experience in influencing strategic decisions through financial modeling and business case development.

• Preferred: Background in the Insurance and/or Financial Services industries.

• Preferred: Accounting experience from a large national or regional CPA firm.

• Preferred: Proficiency in MS Access.
