Lead Electrical Engineer – Nuclear

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the team on complex electrical engineering projects that involve investigation, troubleshooting, and resolution of electrical engineering challenges.

• Guide team members in achieving electrical engineering project deliverables while adhering to technical, quality, financial, and project-control expectations.

• Initiate and communicate the scope of work to team members.

• Specify deliverables such as calculations, specifications, and drawings.

• Monitor status, track progress, maintain project scope and budget, and keep clients updated.

• Conduct regular status meetings and provide progress reports.

• Track and address open items and emergent project challenges.

• Coordinate the completion of project deliverables.

• Oversee detailed design phases for electrical engineering tasks and collaborate with other disciplines.

• Create project scopes, cost estimates, and schedules for intricate electrical modifications at nuclear power plants.

• Develop proposals for complex electrical modifications at nuclear power plants.

• Offer technical oversight and supervision for electrical engineering tasks.

• Prepare engineering design change packages and supporting calculations for the installation, replacement, or upgrade of plant equipment.

• Conduct AC/DC power studies, short-circuit, cable ampacity, voltage-drop, breaker-coordination, motor-starting, and protective-relay-setting calculations.

• Formulate equipment procurement specifications.

• Assist in bid reviews and evaluate potential equipment vendors.

• Address vendor inquiries and maintain a record of questions and responses.

• Engage with clients to confirm scope and ensure satisfaction.

• Mentor and support group development.

• Identify client needs and strategic opportunities.

• Develop follow-on work from established client relationships.

• Prepare and coordinate multidisciplinary proposals.

• Lead or supervise automation and process-improvement initiatives using modern tools such as Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel, and AI.

⛳️ Requirements

• A BSEE degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.

• 10 or more years of experience in designing electrical engineering systems for nuclear power plants.

• At least 3 years of experience leading an engineering design group through all phases of a project design.

• Experience in selecting equipment, materials, and preparing and assembling engineering design change packages, calculations, and specifications.

• Experience serving as a firm/client liaison in a support or lead engineering capacity.

• Proficiency in electrical system design, including low and medium voltage distribution systems (transformers, generators, motors, relays, etc.).

• Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey information to project team members and clients.

• Proficient in MS Office applications.

• Detail-oriented approach to work.

• Ability to obtain a badge for unescorted access to a nuclear facility.

• Must not require U.S. work authorization sponsorship.

• PE license is preferred.

• Willingness or capability to lead others utilizing automation and AI tools.

• Additional education such as a minor, certificate, or experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields is valued but not mandatory.
