Lead Electrical Engineer – Nuclear

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee a team in tackling intricate nuclear electrical engineering projects.

• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical engineering challenges for both single- and multi-discipline initiatives.

• Guide team members to fulfill electrical engineering deliverables that align with technical, quality, financial, and project control standards.

• Initiate and communicate the scope of work to team members.

• Specify deliverables, which include calculations, specifications, and drawings.

• Monitor status and track the progress of team members to adhere to project scope and budget while keeping the client updated.

• Conduct regular status meetings and provide progress reports.

• Manage and resolve outstanding issues and emerging project challenges.

• Coordinate the completion of project deliverables.

• Lead the detailed design phases for electrical engineering tasks and collaborate with other disciplines.

• Develop project scopes, cost assessments, and timelines for complex electrical modifications at nuclear power facilities.

• Create proposals for intricate electrical modifications at nuclear power plants.

• Offer technical supervision and oversight for electrical engineering functions.

• Prepare engineering design change packages for the installation, replacement, or upgrade of plant equipment.

• Generate engineering calculations, including AC/DC power studies, short circuit analysis, cable ampacity, voltage drop, breaker coordination, motor starting, and protective relay settings.

• Draft equipment procurement specifications.

• Assist in the review and evaluation of bids from potential equipment vendors.

• Respond to vendor inquiries and maintain a log of questions and responses.

• Engage with clients to confirm scope and ensure their satisfaction.

• Mentor and support the development of the team.

• Recognize client needs that may present strategic opportunities.

• Foster follow-on work from existing clients through established relationships.

• Prepare and coordinate multi-discipline proposals.

• Supervise the integration of automation and AI-enabled engineering workflows and evaluate automated outputs.

⛳️ Requirements

• A BSEE degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.

• A minimum of 12 years of experience in designing electrical engineering systems for nuclear power plants.

• At least 3 years of experience leading an engineering design team through all phases of project design.

• Experience in selecting equipment and materials, along with the preparation and assembly of engineering design change packages, calculations, and specifications.

• Proven experience serving as a firm/client liaison in a support or leading engineering capacity.

• Background in electrical system design, including low and medium voltage distribution systems (transformers, generators, motors, relays, etc.).

• Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey information to project team members and clients.

• Proficient in MS Office applications.

• Detail-oriented approach to work.

• Ability to obtain badging for unescorted access to a nuclear facility.

• This position does not offer sponsorship for work authorization in the U.S.

• PE Licensure is preferred.

• Willingness or capability to lead others using contemporary tools such as automation and AI.

• Additional education in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields is valued but not obligatory.
