This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Provide senior technical leadership and oversight for data management and programming activities across clinical, observational, and epidemiologic research studies from study start-up through database closeout.
• Lead technical approaches and study data strategies, which encompass database architecture, data workflows, specifications, collection instruments, validation rules, data integration, and delivery requirements.
• Design, develop, and supervise complex SAS programming solutions for cleaning, transforming, validating, integrating, and managing research data.
• Establish and manage data quality and validation processes, including programmed checks, reconciliation, discrepancy resolution, QC procedures, and technical deliverable reviews.
• Direct the integration and reconciliation of data from multiple sources while ensuring integrity, consistency, completeness, traceability, and documentation.
• Oversee the delivery of study datasets, reports, extracts, interim data cuts, and final data deliverables.
• Develop standardized, scalable, efficient practices that involve automation, reusable programming, version control, documentation, and process improvement.
• Mentor and supervise data management and programming staff, including conducting technical reviews, issue resolution, work planning, and prioritization.
• Advise and collaborate with investigators, statisticians, epidemiologists, and operations staff.
• Contribute to the establishment of research data management and programming standards, ensuring compliance with study requirements, SOPs, regulatory and privacy mandates, and data standards.
• B.S. degree in computer science, health sciences, statistics, data science, or a related field with 10+ years of progressively responsible health-research programming and data management experience, OR an M.S. degree in a related field with 8+ years of such experience.
• Advanced skills in SAS programming, including DATA and PROC steps, macro programming, data transformation and integration, complex validation, and reusable automated solutions.
• Extensive experience in managing complex research data and leading data management activities for intricate studies.
• Expert understanding of the entire research data lifecycle.
• Experience in providing technical direction and oversight for complex data management and programming activities.
• Proficient in integrating and reconciling data from various sources.
• Experience in developing and implementing data quality and QC frameworks.
• Strong leadership, communication, collaboration, and mentoring abilities.
• Familiarity with NIH Common Data Elements, CDISC, OMOP, HIPAA, 21 CFR Part 11, GCP, and FAIR principles.
• Experience with at least two of the following: R, Python, SQL, database architecture and development, Git/version control systems, APIs, and other research data workflow tools is highly desirable.
