Lead Automation QA Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Create systems that identify bugs prior to release

• Develop, sustain, enhance, and scale automated testing strategies

• Provide guidance, review, support, and mentor QA developers

• Write, assess, and enhance automated tests using JavaScript and TypeScript

• Design, optimize, and scale testing frameworks for the Shopify Hydrogen storefront and backend middleware

• Incorporate automated tests into cloud-based CI/CD pipelines

• Track and report quality metrics, including automation coverage, pipeline stability, test execution runtimes, flaky test reduction, and production defect leakage

• Conduct API contract testing, performance profiling, load testing, and browser developer tool profiling

• Assist in enhancing the quality, stability, and reliability of AlgaeCal's React-based storefront, middleware, and eCommerce platforms

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in QA development

• More than 2 years of experience in leadership, mentorship, or coaching roles

• Strong proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript

• Practical experience with Cypress, Playwright, or equivalent automated testing frameworks

• Experience in architecting, optimizing, and scaling automated testing frameworks for both frontend storefronts and backend middleware

• Familiarity with Shopify Hydrogen storefront and middleware

• Experience in integrating automated tests within cloud-based CI/CD pipelines

• Knowledge of automation coverage, pipeline stability, test execution runtimes, flaky test reduction, production defect leakage, and quality reporting

• Understanding of API contract testing, performance profiling, load testing, and browser developer tool profiling

• A curious mindset, technical aptitude, and a willingness to explore in depth

• Familiarity with Python, PHP, Figma, Storybook, or Jest is a plus

• Humble, eager to learn, and adept at working with people
