This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Conduct research on legal data relevant to the caseload of the designated judge.
• Examine, analyze, and interpret records from lower courts, agency briefs, and/or appellate court briefs.
• Seek out, interpret, and apply statutes, court decisions, and other legal authorities.
• Draft opinions, orders, and legal memoranda.
• Review and proofread circulating opinions.
• Participate in court sessions and hearings.
• Travel as necessary.
• Execute related tasks as required.
• Collaborate extensively with the Judge and staff while investigating complex legal issues within the court’s original and appellate jurisdictions.
• Graduation from an accredited law school.
• Admission, in good standing, to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania within twelve months of appointment.
• A satisfactory criminal background check is mandatory.
• A resume, legal writing sample, references, and a transcript must be submitted with the application.
• Familiarity with the Unified Judicial System of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
• Understanding of judicial procedures and rules of practice.
• Proficiency in the principles, methods, materials, and practices of legal research.
• Skill in analyzing, evaluating, and organizing facts, evidence, and materials, and presenting them clearly and logically in oral or written forms as opinions, memoranda, orders, or decisions.
• Ability to comprehend and interpret constitutional provisions, statutes, administrative regulations, and precedents.
• Capability to prepare orders and opinions for judicial approval.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of the judiciary, court and departmental administrators, attorneys, and staff.
• Ability to self-motivate and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Law Review experience preferred but not mandatory.
• Ideal for a recent law school graduate or someone with legal experience.
• Exceptional research and writing skills are essential.
