Laboratory Informatics – Technology Architect

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Oversee the strategy, design, and implementation of technology solutions for laboratory medicine, emphasizing digital pathology.

β€’ Develop the roadmap for laboratory applications, digital pathology systems, and integration of instruments and systems.

β€’ Collaborate with pathologists, laboratory leaders, operational teams, vendors, and Information Systems teams.

β€’ Assist in planning for digital pathology implementation, evaluate workflows, design future states, ensure stakeholder readiness, validate and test processes, prepare for go-live, and optimize post-live operations.

β€’ Support whole slide imaging, image management, scanner connectivity, storage planning, interoperability, and integrations with laboratory and electronic medical record systems.

β€’ Formulate technology strategies and roadmaps for medical and research laboratory applications, digital pathology platforms, and electronic medical record solutions.

β€’ Direct the design, development, and maintenance of enterprise architecture for laboratory applications, technology platforms, and electronic medical record information systems.

β€’ Establish and uphold technology governance processes, including an Architecture Review Board and/or Data Governance Committee.

β€’ Research, assess, and select technology solutions; generate technical content for RFI/RFP processes; lead evaluations; and assist with budget estimations.

β€’ Provide strategic advice for implementations, daily support, vendor coordination, stakeholder engagement, and user adoption.

β€’ Lead teams focused on root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and resolving chronic production issues.

β€’ Present findings, recommendations, and specifications to the Supervisor, Project Manager, and/or colleagues.

β€’ Review solution objectives and constraints; verify alignment with enterprise architecture; and identify risks, dependencies, and operational impacts.

β€’ Act as the vendor contact, stakeholder partner, trusted advisor, and mentor for team members.


⛳️ Requirements

β€’ A Master’s degree is required; equivalent work experience may be considered for internal candidates in lieu of educational requirements.

β€’ At least five years of experience in information technology within large-scale, diverse IT environments is required.

β€’ CIIP Certification is mandatory or must be obtained within 12 months of hire.

β€’ Epic Beaker Anatomic Pathology certification is highly preferred.

β€’ Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical, clinical, and imaging workflow concepts effectively.

β€’ Experience in collaborating with business leaders, IT leaders, vendors, and multidisciplinary stakeholders.

β€’ Familiarity with digital pathology, anatomic pathology workflows, imaging platforms, and laboratory information systems.

β€’ Project management certification and/or experience is preferred.

β€’ If an RN or other Clinical Provider, maintaining that license is preferred.
