Junior Electrical Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nevada.

📋 Description

• Provide engineering assistance for high voltage power transformer initiatives, encompassing installation, assembly, oil processing, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.

• Review and interpret one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, along with manufacturer nameplate and test data.

• Support protection and control tasks associated with transformer installations, which include differential, overcurrent, sudden pressure, Buchholz, and temperature protection schemes.

• Assist in reviewing relay settings, conducting relay testing, performing functional trip checks, and verifying CT/PT circuits.

• Carry out or oversee electrical testing such as TTR, power factor, winding resistance, insulation resistance, excitation current, and SFRA.

• Analyze electrical testing outcomes against baseline and industry standards.

• Interpret dissolved gas analysis and oil quality findings, recommending corrective actions as necessary.

• Prepare test reports, commissioning packages, technical findings, and documentation for customers.

• Aid in the development of scopes of work, technical proposals, and estimates in collaboration with engineering, project management, and business development teams.

• Act as a technical resource for field technicians.

• Communicate directly with utility, industrial, and renewable energy clients.

• Adhere to and advocate for NTS safety policies, customer site requirements, as well as NFPA 70E, OSHA, IEEE C57, and NETA standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

• 2 to 4 years of experience with high voltage power transformers.

• 2 to 4 years of experience in power system protection, including protective relaying and protection and control schemes.

• Proficient understanding of transformer test methods and testing equipment (Doble, Megger, OMICRON, or similar).

• Capability to read and mark up electrical drawings and schematics.

• Strong written communication skills for technical reports and customer correspondence.

• Ability to work independently and maintain productivity in a remote environment.

• Valid driver's license.

• Willingness to travel 20% to 35% of the time, occasionally on short notice for outage or emergency work.

• Authorized to work in the United States.

• Capability to work outdoors at substations, generation sites, and industrial facilities.

• Ability to work around energized equipment areas, heights, and confined spaces, with appropriate training and PPE.

• Ability to climb ladders and transformers.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

• Willingness to work extended hours during outages or emergency response situations.
