Junior AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Create effective AI, automation, and data solutions that enhance work processes and client services.

• Assist in the development and enhancement of PIA, the internal AI automation tool, to boost service desk efficiency and minimize manual tasks.

• Design, test, and sustain automation scripts across RMM and PSA platforms, including N-able, ConnectWise, and Halo.

• Explore, develop, and manage APIs and integrations between internal systems and client-facing platforms.

• Clean, reconcile, and analyze data from various platforms to ensure precision and consistency.

• Develop and maintain dashboards and reports related to service delivery, client health, and financial performance.

• Identify areas where AI and automation can enhance both internal and client processes.

• Utilize Microsoft Copilot, Claude, Microsoft Foundry, and other AI tools to create and implement business-oriented solutions.

• Support AI initiatives from initial briefings and requirements gathering through development, UAT, and completion.

• Create and maintain documentation for AI and automation projects.

• Monitor, measure, and report on the commercial and operational impact of implemented AI solutions and automations.

• Test solutions, investigate issues, troubleshoot problems, and escalate when necessary.

• Continuously develop expertise in AI, automation, Microsoft technologies, and business systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• A graduate or junior-level background in computer science, data, AI, business systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

• Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Power Apps.

• Familiarity with Python and/or PowerShell.

• Some hands-on experience with data analysis.

• Some hands-on experience using Power BI to create dashboards, reports, or analyze data.

• Genuine enthusiasm for AI and automation, particularly in leveraging technology to address practical operational and business challenges.

• Confidence in reading API documentation and an eagerness to test and build integrations.

• Strong documentation practices and a keen attention to detail.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to engage with non-technical colleagues.

• Self-sufficiency in investigating issues while knowing when to seek assistance or escalate concerns.

• Openness to learning new platforms, tools, and technologies as the role evolves.

• Experience or exposure to N-able, ConnectWise, or Halo is a plus.

• Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Azure, Power BI, Microsoft Graph, and Power Apps is advantageous.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, and Microsoft Foundry is beneficial.

• Understanding of REST APIs, JSON, and systems integration is advantageous.

• Awareness of data security, data sensitivity, and responsible management of business and client information is beneficial.

• Experience in building an AI-assisted dashboard, application, workflow, or automation is a plus.

• Background in an MSP or B2B IT services environment is advantageous.
