This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Identify and strategize editorial content.
• Oversee the publication and distribution of both internal and external materials.
• Edit and create written documents and manuscripts ensuring technical accuracy, consistency, clarity, and suitability for the target audience.
• Plan layouts, engage with vendors, and review written content.
• Design layouts and manage the production process.
• Generate story ideas and assign or compose articles.
• Organize and manage budgets.
• Supervise advertising initiatives.
• Manage or supervise relevant staff members.
• Collaborate with stakeholders on manuals and other communication resources.
• Conduct literature reviews and perform Internet research.
• Work with authors on the development, editing, and submission of journal articles.
• Direct design and desktop publishing teams.
• Edit manuscripts and journal features using subject matter expertise.
• Coordinate changes from authors, copyright releases, necessary charges, deadlines, and production requirements.
• Manage journal operations, including budgets, copy editing, editorial board meetings, advertising, and online editing systems.
• Establish author guidelines and resource materials, and recommend journal formats.
• Execute additional responsibilities as assigned.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
• Three years of pertinent experience.
• Additional education may be considered as a substitute for required experience.
• Additional relevant experience may replace required education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, in accordance with the JHU equivalency formula.
• Capability to comprehend scientific information, including theories, quantitative and qualitative data, and the preferred structure of scientific journal manuscripts.
• Intermediate skills in editing.
• Intermediate skills in the editorial process.
• Intermediate project management abilities.
• Intermediate proofreading capabilities.
• Intermediate report writing skills.
• Intermediate familiarity with style guides.
• Intermediate visual design competencies.
• Intermediate writing proficiency.
