This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, develop, test, enhance, and maintain Java-based backend applications and services that support the IBS program.
• Create backend solutions utilizing Java, Spring Boot, and associated Java frameworks and libraries.
• Design, construct, maintain, and utilize RESTful APIs and web services.
• Develop business logic for applications, service-layer components, integrations, and data-access functionalities.
• Integrate backend services with relational databases, external systems, and various application components.
• Convert functional and technical requirements into reliable, scalable, and maintainable software solutions.
• Write clean, efficient, testable, and maintainable Java code in accordance with established coding standards and software engineering best practices.
• Develop and maintain unit and integration tests.
• Engage in peer code reviews.
• Troubleshoot and resolve defects in backend applications, integration issues, and performance challenges.
• Analyze application logs and system behavior to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
• Provide support for application integrations across system components and external interfaces.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines as well as automated build, test, and deployment processes.
• Ensure applications adhere to DoD security requirements, secure coding practices, and relevant STIG requirements.
• Participate in Agile development activities, which include sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, demonstrations, and retrospectives.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
• Collaborate with senior developers, technical leads, QA, DevSecOps, database, infrastructure, and other engineering teams.
• Support front-end integration efforts and contribute to Angular-based application components as required.
• Active Secret Clearance.
• IAT Level II certification (CompTIA Security+ CE preferred).
• A minimum of 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience in developing applications using Java.
• Experience with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, or equivalent Java application frameworks.
• Experience in designing, developing, and consuming RESTful APIs and web services.
• Experience in developing backend business logic, service-layer components, and application integrations.
• Proficiency in working with relational databases and SQL.
• Familiarity with object-oriented design, software design principles, and common development patterns.
• Experience in writing unit and integration tests for Java applications.
• Experience in troubleshooting and debugging enterprise applications, APIs, and integrations.
• Proficient in using Git or similar source-control tools.
• Experience in Agile software development environments.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
• Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical abilities.
• Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating within a distributed development team.
• Preferred: Experience supporting USTRANSCOM, DoD, or other federal mission systems.
• Preferred: Experience with Spring Boot-based enterprise applications or microservices.
• Preferred: Experience in developing applications utilizing microservices architectures.
• Preferred: Experience in cloud-based environments, particularly AWS.
• Preferred: Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Preferred: Experience with messaging, asynchronous processing, or enterprise application integration technologies.
• Preferred: Familiarity with application security, secure coding practices, vulnerability remediation, and security scanning tools.
• Preferred: Experience with GitLab, Jenkins, Jira, and Confluence.
• Preferred: Experience working in a DoD DevSecOps environment.
• Preferred: Familiarity with Angular, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS, and the integration of front-end applications with Java REST APIs.
