IT Systems Engineer V

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Execute business and systems analysis alongside architecture evaluations for automation and infrastructure enhancement initiatives.

• Assess system and application architectures that align with business impact and financial considerations.

• Recognize Azure cloud-first architectures consistent with the Azure Well-Architected Framework.

• Investigate emerging technologies and suggest enhancements to capabilities.

• Spearhead technology adoption and establish best practices in architecture.

• Conduct cloud engineering, operations, support, and maintenance for transitions from sovereign to commercial cloud environments.

• Design and implement automation leveraging IaC, templating, policy as code, CI/CD pipelines, feature toggles, and chaos engineering.

• Utilize Terraform and Ansible for provisioning, configuration, and deployment tasks.

• Develop and uphold cloud governance policies along with policy-as-code.

• Construct and sustain CI/CD pipelines.

• Propel DevSecOps, CloudOps, SRE, and Platform Engineering initiatives to minimize system administration overhead.

• Provide daily cloud operations, monitoring, and troubleshooting to fulfill SLAs.

• Evaluate cloud resources for security compliance and adherence to best practices.

• Establish backup, disaster recovery, and high availability strategies.

• Ensure cloud resources maintain financial transparency and are traceable to cost centers.

• Facilitate discovery sessions, stakeholder interviews, and requirements analysis.

• Analyze business processes while applying Lean and TQM principles.

• Create process maps, data flow diagrams, and entity-relationship diagrams using CASE tools.

• Employ reverse engineering and reengineering methodologies on legacy systems.

• Generate documents for modernization, migration, strategic planning, and system implementation.

• Review Agile practices, suggest enhancements, and mentor teams on Scrum and Kanban methodologies.

• Implement Agile maturity metrics and feedback loops.

• Conduct IV&V assessments of applications and systems.

• Develop and execute test plans while reporting deficiencies along with corrective actions.

• Maintain documentation related to system designs, architectures, automation scripts, and process enhancements.

• Provide strategic advice to senior leaders concerning IT strategy and modernization.

• Assess major project phases for alignment with established standards and organizational objectives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a similar field; additional relevant experience may substitute for a degree.

• At least 3 years of experience in architecting, administering, maintaining, and optimizing systems and cloud-native solutions in Microsoft Azure.

• Minimum 3 years of experience in analyzing, reviewing, diagnosing, and resolving cloud-related issues regarding performance, stability, and security.

• At least 3 years of experience with Azure data storage solutions, including configuration, administration, and troubleshooting.

• Minimum 3 years of experience with database IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS resources such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Cosmos DB, Synapse, and Databricks in Azure.

• At least 3 years of experience with Azure App Service, Azure Functions, Service Bus, and Azure Data Factory.

• Minimum 3 years of experience applying the Azure Well-Architected Framework.

• At least 10 years of experience in conveying complex cloud topics through written and verbal communication.

• Minimum 10 years of experience in system and application design, architecture, and engineering.

• At least 10 years of experience in Agile software development, user-centered design, and product team management.

• Minimum 10 years of experience in business and IT process engineering, continuous improvement, and quality management.

• Active federal security clearance or the ability to obtain one.

• Preferred: Microsoft Azure certifications.

• Preferred: Experience supporting USDA or other federal civilian agencies.

• Preferred: Familiarity with FedRAMP, FISMA, and NIST 800-53.
