This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Conduct post-editing or proofreading of machine translations for IT legal contracts and service agreements.

• Ensure accuracy in terminology, legal consistency, logical fluency, and adherence to Brazilian Portuguese writing standards.

• Adhere to style guides, terminology databases, and project specifications.

• Complete assigned tasks within deadlines and communicate proactively regarding any uncertainties or delays.

• Achieve throughput targets of 600 words per day for machine translation post-editing and 1,200 words per day for proofreading.

• Take part in a mandatory qualification test specific to the project prior to formal engagement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Language pair: Simplified Chinese (ZHCN) to Brazilian Portuguese (PTBR).

• Preference for native-level Brazilian Portuguese speakers; non-native linguists with strong proficiency in PTBR will be considered.

• Relevant experience in translating or editing legal/IT contract materials is highly advantageous.

• Familiarity with computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools like MemoQ, Memsource/Phrase, and Smartcat.

• Consistent availability and capability to meet daily output requirements.

• Commitment to undergoing a mandatory unpaid qualification assessment in the IT-legal sector.

• Must fulfill one of the following criteria: a degree in Translation, Linguistics, or Language Studies (or equivalent with substantial translation training); over 2 years of translation experience along with a college degree; over 5 years of translation experience without a degree; or a translation certification from a recognized government authority.

• Applicants are required to sign a confidentiality agreement and complete a translation test.
