IT Automation Engineer – Business Technology

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain automation scripts and workflows utilizing PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar technologies.

• Create and manage automated workflows for user lifecycle, device provisioning, and identity management using Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, Jamf, APIs, and webhooks.

• Implement logging and alerting in automations to ensure actions are auditable and measurable, tracking time saved and errors minimized.

• Convert repetitive IT operational processes into dependable, documented, automated solutions.

• Leverage AI tools to expedite script development, troubleshoot automation failures, and draft technical documentation while verifying outputs.

• Administer, configure, and oversee end-user and identity platforms including Active Directory, Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, Jamf, and Tanium.

• Manage and support Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams.

• Address Windows and macOS end-user computing issues via ticketing, messaging, and voice or video sessions.

• Take ownership of support requests from start to finish and escalate critical incidents and system alerts to senior IT Operations.

• Document technical solutions in accordance with corporate IT and Information Security standards and policies.

• Collaborate with Service Desk, Infrastructure Engineering, and Information Security teams to identify automation opportunities.

• Work alongside partner teams to test, deploy, and monitor automation workflows.

• Provide occasional guidance on scripting fundamentals and best practices in automation.

• Document automation workflows, runbooks, and troubleshooting guides.

• Manage and maintain the automation knowledge base, runbooks, and integration notes.

• Enhance automation reliability, minimize inefficiencies, and anticipate dependencies.

• Monitor the performance and reliability of deployed automation, escalating and resolving issues as necessary.

• Validate AI-generated scripts, configurations, and recommendations in non-production environments.

• Share effective AI-assisted techniques and prompts with team members.

• Identify opportunities to implement automation and AI into Business Technology workflows and escalate larger prospects to the manager.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in IT systems administration, service desk operations, or a related technical position, including practical experience in writing and maintaining automation scripts.

• Proven experience in administering or supporting enterprise identity, collaboration, and productivity platforms such as Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, Microsoft 365, Slack, Zoom, or Microsoft Teams.

• Demonstrated ability to adapt or troubleshoot existing automation, scripts, or workflows to solve moderately complex and ambiguous technical challenges.

• Experience utilizing AI tools like ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, or Claude for tasks such as research, communication, analysis, documentation, automation, workflow optimization, and decision-making.

• Practical use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot to develop, deploy, or automate a functioning solution, supported by a portfolio, repository, or project example.

• Must be located in the United States Central or Mountain time zone, with work hours aligned to that time zone.

• Ability to manage escalations that require coordination across teams.

• Availability to participate in an on-call rotation for urgent issues outside of regular business hours.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the capability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Must be available for occasional travel to Rithum offices, expected quarterly.

• Preferred: At least 3 years of experience in IT automation, systems engineering, or a role adjacent to DevOps.

• Preferred: Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Server+, CompTIA Linux+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or equivalent scripting/automation certifications.

• Preferred: Experience integrating automation with IT service management or endpoint management tools like ServiceNow, Microsoft Intune, or Jira.

• Preferred: Familiarity with workflow orchestration or automation tools such as Zapier, Make, n8n, or Workato.

• Preferred: Knowledge of REST API integration patterns and event-driven concepts such as webhooks, triggers, and conditional logic.

• Preferred: Experience with endpoint management and protection platforms like Microsoft Intune, Jamf, Tanium, or CrowdStrike.

• Preferred: Personal projects, repositories, or hackathon contributions showcasing scripting or automation skills.
