IT Automation Engineer – Business Technology

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop, construct, and sustain automation scripts and workflows to enhance IT service delivery, endpoint provisioning, and systems administration.

• Create and manage automated workflows for user lifecycle, device provisioning, and identity lifecycle utilizing Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, Jamf, APIs, and webhooks.

• Implement automation with logging and alerting, recording hours saved and errors diminished.

• Convert repetitive IT operation processes into dependable, documented automated solutions.

• Employ AI tools for script development, troubleshooting automation errors, and drafting technical documentation, ensuring outputs are verified before production use.

• Oversee, configure, and monitor Active Directory, Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, Jamf, and Tanium.

• Manage and support Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams.

• Address Windows and macOS end-user computing issues through tickets, messaging, and voice or video sessions.

• Handle requests from start to finish and escalate critical incidents and system alerts to senior IT Operations.

• Document technical solutions in accordance with corporate IT and Information Security standards and policies.

• Collaborate with Service Desk, Infrastructure Engineering, and Information Security teams to pinpoint automation opportunities.

• Work together with partner teams to test, deploy, and monitor automation workflows.

• Occasionally provide guidance on scripting basics and automation best practices.

• Document automation workflows, runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and integration notes.

• Manage and maintain the automation knowledge base.

• Enhance automation reliability, minimize inefficiencies, and foresee dependencies.

• Monitor the performance and reliability of deployed automation, escalating and resolving issues within the area of responsibility.

• Validate AI-generated scripts, configurations, and recommendations in non-production settings.

• Share effective AI-assisted methodologies and prompts with team members.

• Identify opportunities to leverage automation and AI within Business Technology workflows and escalate broader opportunities to the manager.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in IT systems administration, service desk operations, or a related technical position.

• Practical experience in writing and maintaining automation scripts using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar languages.

• Hands-on experience administering or supporting enterprise identity, collaboration, and productivity platforms including Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, Microsoft 365, Slack, Zoom, or Microsoft Teams.

• Experience in adapting or troubleshooting existing automation, scripts, or workflows to address moderately complex, ambiguous technical issues.

• Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, or Claude for research, communication, analysis, documentation, automation, workflow optimization, and decision-making.

• Hands-on experience with AI coding tools like Claude Code or GitHub Copilot to create, ship, or automate a working solution, evidenced by a portfolio, repository, or project sample.

• Residing in the United States Central or Mountain time zone, with working hours aligned to that time zone.

• Ability to manage escalations that require cross-team coordination.

• Participation in an on-call rotation for urgent matters outside of business hours.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Availability for occasional travel to Rithum offices, expected quarterly.

• Proven professional experience working in a remote environment.

• Preferred: Over 3 years of experience in IT automation, systems engineering, or a DevOps-related role.

• Preferred: Certifications such as CompTIA Server+, CompTIA Linux+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or equivalent scripting/automation certifications.

• Preferred: Experience integrating automation with IT service management or endpoint management tools like ServiceNow, Microsoft Intune, or Jira.

• Preferred: Experience with workflow orchestration or automation tools such as Zapier, Make, n8n, or Workato.

• Preferred: Knowledge of REST API integration patterns and event-driven concepts such as webhooks, triggers, and conditional logic.

• Preferred: Familiarity with endpoint management and protection platforms such as Microsoft Intune, Jamf, Tanium, or CrowdStrike.

• Preferred: Personal projects, repositories, or hackathon work demonstrating scripting or automation capabilities.
