IT Automation Engineer – Business Technology

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain automation scripts and workflows utilizing tools such as PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar technologies.

• Streamline IT service delivery, endpoint provisioning, systems administration, user lifecycle management, device provisioning, and identity lifecycle workflows through automation.

• Employ Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, Jamf, APIs, and webhooks to create automated workflows.

• Implement logging and alerting within automations to ensure actions are auditable and measurable.

• Monitor and report on hours saved and errors minimized as a result of automation.

• Convert manual IT operations processes into reliable, well-documented automated solutions.

• Utilize AI tools to expedite script development, troubleshoot automation failures, and draft technical documentation.

• Configure, administer, and oversee Active Directory, Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, Jamf, and Tanium.

• Support and manage Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams.

• Address Windows and macOS end-user computing issues through ticketing systems, messaging, and voice or video calls.

• Take ownership of support requests from initiation to resolution, escalating critical incidents and system alerts as necessary.

• Document technical solutions in accordance with corporate IT and Information Security standards.

• Collaborate with Service Desk, Infrastructure Engineering, and Information Security teams to identify opportunities for automation.

• Work alongside partner teams to test, deploy, and monitor automation workflows.

• Occasionally provide guidance to Service Desk colleagues on best practices for scripting and automation.

• Maintain automation workflows, runbooks, troubleshooting guides, knowledge bases, and integration documentation.

• Apply lessons learned to enhance reliability, minimize inefficiencies, and anticipate dependencies.

• Monitor the performance and reliability of deployed automation, addressing and resolving issues promptly.

• Validate AI-generated scripts, configurations, and recommendations in non-production settings.

• Share effective AI-assisted techniques and prompts with teammates.

• Identify potential applications of automation and AI within Business Technology workflows, escalating significant opportunities to management.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in IT systems administration, service desk operations, or a related technical field, with hands-on experience in writing and maintaining automation scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar).

• Practical experience administering or supporting enterprise identity, collaboration, and productivity platforms like Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, Microsoft 365, Slack, Zoom, or Microsoft Teams.

• Proven experience in adapting or troubleshooting existing automation, scripts, or workflows to resolve moderately complex and ambiguous technical challenges.

• Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, or Claude to enhance productivity through research, communication, analysis, documentation, automation, workflow optimization, and decision-making.

• Demonstrated hands-on use of AI coding tools like Claude Code or GitHub Copilot to create, deploy, or automate functional solutions, supported by a portfolio, repository, or project examples.

• Must be located in the United States Central or Mountain time zone, with work hours aligned to that time zone.

• Ability to manage escalations that require cross-team coordination.

• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation for urgent issues outside of regular business hours.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Availability for occasional travel to Rithum offices, expected quarterly.

• Successful experience working remotely.

• Preferred: 3+ years of experience in IT automation, systems engineering, or a DevOps-related position.

• Preferred certifications such as CompTIA Server+, CompTIA Linux+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or equivalent scripting/automation certifications.

• Preferred experience in integrating automation with IT service management or endpoint management tools like ServiceNow, Microsoft Intune, or Jira.

• Preferred expertise with workflow orchestration or automation tools such as Zapier, Make, n8n, or Workato.

• Preferred familiarity with REST API integration patterns and event-driven concepts, including webhooks, triggers, and conditional logic.

• Preferred exposure to endpoint management and protection platforms like Microsoft Intune, Jamf, Tanium, or CrowdStrike.

• Preferred personal projects, repositories, or hackathon participation showcasing scripting or automation capabilities.
