Investment Officer – Africa & ME, French Speaker

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kenya.

📋 Description

• Oversee or co-oversee a portfolio of investees while fostering and enhancing relationships with them.

• Aid in generating new business prospects and assist members of the Investment Team.

• Conduct financial analysis alongside senior regional team members to evaluate investment prospects.

• Gather and analyze governance, credit management, financial, and ESG data from investees, and organize it on the shared drive.

• Evaluate current investees through monthly, quarterly, semiannual, and annual analytical assessments.

• Analyze investee risk profiles as well as economic, political, and natural disaster risks.

• Support the selection of investments in companies focused on clean cooking, energy access, and financial intermediation.

• Engage in negotiations with potential investees under the guidance of senior Investment Team members.

• Draft investment proposals for submission to the Investment Committee.

• Assist in the preparation and presentation of investment proposals.

• Organize and plan due diligence trips.

• Fulfill the minimum monitoring due diligence requirement for existing investees.

• Compile and revise detailed Country Risk Analysis reports along with mitigation strategies.

• Aid in loan documentation, negotiation, and transaction completion.

• Generate portfolio analysis reports for supervisors, portfolio management, senior management, and investors.

• Investigate and track financial markets while reporting on investee information.

• Assist in identifying new business opportunities, building pipelines, and facilitating business growth.

• Initiate and sustain communication with both current and prospective investees.

• Supervise junior team members and review/evaluate analytical outputs.

• Contribute to internal tools, procedures, technical task forces, management teams, and the development of new products.

• Proficient in written and spoken English and French.

• Possess a degree in finance, economics, or a related discipline.

• Have 5–10 years of professional experience in banking, impact investment, or economic development.

• Previous experience in investment management is essential.

• Preferred experience in conducting financial and ESG due diligence of financial institutions and/or renewable energy companies.

• Demonstrated passion for impact investing, emerging market development, SDG initiatives, green energy, or energy transition projects.

• Strong skills in financial analysis.

• Comprehensive understanding of due diligence, client selection, distribution, and financing processes within financial and credit sectors.

• Proficient in executing due diligence tasks.

• Skilled in assessing investment risks and crafting investment proposals.

• Ability to thrive in a multinational and multicultural setting.

• Capable of working in a dynamic environment with a flexible, proactive approach.

• Aptitude for identifying critical issues and drawing appropriate conclusions from the available data.

• Exceptional professional communication and presentation abilities.

• Proficient in the business language utilized at the Regional Office.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

• Previous experience in direct lending to SMEs, access-to-energy firms, and carbon credit initiatives is advantageous.
