Investment Analyst – Africa & ME, French Speaker

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kenya.

📋 Description

• Oversee or co-oversee a portfolio of investees while fostering and enhancing relationships with them.

• Aid in the development of new business opportunities and the expansion of investment pipelines.

• Collaborate with Investment Team members and conduct financial analysis alongside senior regional colleagues to evaluate investment prospects.

• Gather and examine governance, credit management, financial, and ESG data from investees, storing it on the shared drive.

• Track current investees through monthly, quarterly, semiannual, and annual analytical assessments.

• Evaluate investee risk profiles, considering economic, political, and natural disaster risks.

• Assist in identifying target investee companies in the clean cooking, energy access, and financial intermediation sectors.

• Engage in negotiations with prospective investees to establish investment terms.

• Draft investment proposals for the Investment Committee and aid in their preparation and presentation.

• Organize and plan due diligence trips while meeting minimum monitoring due diligence time requirements.

• Create and update comprehensive Country Risk Analysis reports, detailing risks and mitigation strategies.

• Assist in the preparation of loan documentation, negotiation, and transaction closure.

• Develop portfolio analysis reports for supervisors, portfolio management, senior management, and investors.

• Research and monitor financial markets, providing information on investees.

• Support the identification of new business opportunities and maintain communication with current and potential investees.

• Design internal tools and procedures.

• Participate in technical task forces and support management teams.

• Contribute to the development of new products.

• Report directly to the Head of the Regional Office and collaborate closely with the Fund Manager for one fund.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or a related discipline.

• A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in banking, impact investment, or economic development.

• Prior experience in investment management is essential.

• Preferred experience in conducting financial and ESG due diligence for financial institutions and/or renewable energy companies.

• Demonstrated passion for impact investing, developing emerging markets, SDG initiatives, green energy, or energy transition projects.

• Strong financial analysis capabilities.

• Comprehensive knowledge of due diligence, client selection, distribution, and financing processes in financial and credit sectors.

• Proficient in conducting due diligence.

• Skilled in evaluating investment risks and creating investment proposals.

• Ability to thrive in a multinational and multicultural environment.

• Capacity to work effectively in a fast-paced setting with a flexible, hands-on approach.

• Competence in identifying critical issues and pragmatically analyzing data, information, and facts.

• Ability to draw logical conclusions from available data.

• Exceptional professional communication and presentation abilities.

• Proficiency in the language of business at the Regional Office.

• Excellent written and spoken English and French.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

• Willingness to travel frequently to meet potential and existing investees in Africa.
