InterSystems IRIS Cache Database Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Administer, maintain, configure, upgrade, patch, and troubleshoot InterSystems IRIS and Caché database environments that support VX130 and related DMM systems.

• Provide support for Development, Test, Staging, and Production environments.

• Monitor and address IRIS Mirror consistency, VistA Shadow consistency, Journal Readers, Data Filers, Ensemble/HealthShare transmissions to Oracle Health, high-availability environments, storage utilization, encryption, backups, and data-quality indicators.

• Conduct database capacity planning, performance tuning, configuration optimization, and proactive monitoring.

• Execute and validate database backup and recovery processes, including regular recovery testing.

• Identify, troubleshoot, resolve, document, and report issues related to the database, platform, performance, and data quality.

• Support InterSystems IRIS on Linux in bare-metal, virtual-machine, and containerized environments.

• Collaborate with Linux, Windows, storage, network, application, VA, and Oracle Health teams to resolve cross-platform challenges.

• Maintain documentation related to database configuration, operations, backup/recovery, change management, and ATO support.

• Assist with production deployments, upgrades, sustainment activities, and site-conversion preparedness.

• Provide after-hours or on-call operational support as required.

• Take on additional responsibilities and tasks to help achieve team objectives and project success.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.

• Over 5 years of hands-on database administration experience, with considerable expertise in InterSystems Caché and/or InterSystems IRIS.

• Practical experience with database operations, configuration, troubleshooting, system design, performance tuning, capacity planning, backup/recovery, and high-availability settings.

• Experience in administering and troubleshooting InterSystems IRIS Mirror and/or Caché/IRIS replication technologies.

• Solid Linux administration skills.

• Familiarity with Windows Server environments.

• Experience supporting production systems through formal change, configuration, incident, and problem-management processes.

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with documentation and cross-functional collaboration abilities.

• Ability to work independently in a dynamic operations environment.

• U.S. Citizenship is required.

• Must successfully complete a background check.

• Capability to obtain and maintain a Government/Public Trust clearance, including necessary fingerprinting, when required.

• Experience with VX130, VistA, Ensemble/HealthShare, ObjectScript/MUMPS, or Department of Veterans Affairs healthcare data platforms.

• Experience supporting InterSystems IRIS across containers/Kubernetes, virtual machines, and bare-metal infrastructure.

• Proficiency with SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, SQL, scripting, or other enterprise database technologies.

• Previous experience supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs, federal healthcare programs, EHR modernization, or similar mission-critical government healthcare settings.

• Must reside within the continental US.
