This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Execute database capacity planning, installation, configuration, design, migration, performance monitoring, security, troubleshooting, backup, and data recovery tasks.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in data management, collaborating with both internal and external teams to troubleshoot issues and provide best practices for database implementation and maintenance.
• Assist in the deployment, maintenance, and support of data systems for both internal and external projects.
• Write, optimize, and review SQL queries and schema designs to ensure maximum performance.
• Implement and sustain DBMS and data maintenance processes to enhance data operations.
• Develop and carry out data migration strategies for complex systems handling large datasets.
• Proactively suggest improvements for data systems.
• Gather, organize, and present metrics on data systems for both internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Core Development, Managed Services, partners, and customers to share database management best practices and enhancements.
• Precisely log working hours in NetSuite, ensuring hours are recorded as billable when applicable.
• Fully utilize the NetSuite project management tool for operational efficiency.
• Monitor and report billable hours as part of project management and customer service delivery.
• Adhere to privacy, security, and confidentiality standards.
• A post-secondary degree in computer science or a related discipline, along with five to ten years of experience in database administration, information technology, database architecture, or a similar field.
• Significant experience with both Relational and Non-Relational database technologies, including Oracle, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
• Proficient in SQL and adept with database server tools.
• Expertise in database tuning; capable of interpreting and explaining execution plans across multiple servers and understanding necessary query optimizations.
• Advanced understanding of database security and performance monitoring standards.
• Knowledge of relational modeling as well as strong mathematical and statistical skills.
• Familiarity with various programming languages and ability to troubleshoot connection strings and connection pools.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience with a Cloud Database Service (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure PostgreSQL).
• At least 2 years of experience with PostgreSQL maintenance tasks, including backup and restore processes and multi-region replication.
• Experience with cloud services (AWS, Microsoft Azure, OCI) and messaging services (Kafka, Eventhubs, ActiveMQ).
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, along with a keen attention to detail.
• Familiarity with Data Warehousing technologies such as Snowflake or Redshift is an advantage.
• Practical experience with Datalakes or BigData technologies is a plus.
