International Freight Pricing and Procurement Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the transition to a Rate Management Provider or Solution.

• Create a program to service the Client Rate Sheet program for more than 180 clients.

• Negotiate procurement for international products, including FCL, LCL, and air freight.

• Oversee and sustain global partnerships and strategies with ocean carriers and consolidators.

• Manage carrier contracts while tracking any amendments and modifications.

• Formulate partner strategies and selection allocations, while monitoring partner performance.

• Improve oversight of US export products from a procurement perspective.

• Build and nurture relationships with ocean carriers, consolidators, and air freight providers.

• Develop benchmarking analytics and tools to ensure procurement is in line with industry standards.

• Assess new product offerings and create strategies for client introduction.

• Lead RFQ initiatives in sourcing costs and managing inputs for competitive bids.

• Ensure compliance with FMC regulations for ocean rate offerings.

• Maintain reporting on booking and carrier activities to stakeholders.

• Assist in designing solutions for the needs of current and prospective clients.

• Enhance market knowledge across various trade lanes.

• Coordinate with overseas procurement teams to align strategies and provide influence as necessary.

• Integrate the existing procurement landscape into a managed rate warehoused environment.

• Negotiate new contracts with consolidators for the import segment of the LCL business.

• Develop a comprehensive company tool for delivering contract pricing across different modes and origins.

• Incorporate dynamic LCL and air freight pricing into client rate sheets.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience with any type of rate management platforms.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel is essential.

• Familiarity with Power BI is advantageous but not mandatory.

• Comfortable analyzing large datasets in Excel.

• Experience in ocean freight contracting is required.

• Strong knowledge of ocean freight dynamics, including Trans-Pacific, Trans-Atlantic, and India Sub-Continent trade routes.

• Comprehensive understanding of ocean carriers, alliance orientation, and service strings.

• Additional experience in air freight is beneficial but not essential.

• Capacity to provide leadership and mentorship to a small team of Pricing Analysts.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in NVOCC, freight forwarding, or similar industry roles.

• At least 2 years of direct experience in client quoting or freight procurement roles.

• Over 1 year of experience working with rate management systems, whether third-party or proprietary.

• Preferred: 7+ years in NVOCC, freight forwarding, or related industry roles.

• Preferred: 3+ years of direct client quoting or freight procurement experience.

• Preferred: 2+ years working with rate management systems, either third-party or proprietary.

• Ability to operate standard office equipment.

• Capable of lifting items under 25 pounds and performing tasks that require bending, standing, and walking short distances as necessary.

• Willingness to travel 10%-20% of the time.
