Interconnection Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee the WECC Interconnection Engineers and foster their personal and professional growth.

• Conduct strategic analyses of interconnection procedures, queues, and distribution systems within designated RTO/ISO regions to inform greenfield project siting.

• Supervise the preparation of interconnection requests through the execution of Interconnection Agreements.

• Direct all WECC interconnection requests and work collaboratively with regional Development and Execution teams throughout the project lifecycle.

• Track necessary system upgrades and pinpoint mitigation solutions within applicable tariffs and processes.

• Guide the WECC Interconnection team through all interconnection tasks throughout project development and execution.

• Support greenfield development by evaluating system analyses, estimating study-process budgets and timelines, coordinating technical materials, and offering viability feedback.

• Assess utility study scopes, costs, and timelines; identify cost- or time-saving alternatives; monitor efficiencies; and negotiate and finalize interconnection and engineering/procurement agreements.

• Lead or assist internal teams in fulfilling transmission-owner requirements and integrating transmission-owner timelines into construction schedules.

• Oversee the daily interconnection responsibilities of direct reports.

• Develop and manage project management task tracking tools.

• Prepare and deliver periodic reports to management and internal teams.

• Create and support initiatives for alternative process efficiencies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

• Over 5 years of experience in renewable or traditional energy development, or transmission planning.

• Proficiency in analyzing power flow and system impact studies for the interconnection of utility-scale solar, wind, and battery storage generation facilities.

• Familiarity with the interconnection request package and all necessary submission items.

• Knowledge of transmission systems and expansion plans within the U.S.

• Understanding of Open Access Transmission Tariffs and Generator Interconnection Procedures for relevant region(s).

• Experience in project management.

• Previous employment or experience with a utility TRO/ISO, or consultants providing services within the targeted footprint is highly preferred.

• Approximately 20% travel may be required.

• Work authorization will be verified via Form I-9 and E-Verify.
