Interconnection Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee the WECC Interconnection Engineers while fostering their personal and professional growth.

• Perform strategic evaluations of interconnection protocols, queues, and distribution networks within a specified RTO/ISO to guide greenfield project siting.

• Manage the preparation of interconnection requests by implementing Interconnection Agreements with beneficial terms.

• Direct all WECC interconnection requests and work in conjunction with regional Development and Execution teams throughout the project lifecycle.

• Track necessary system upgrades and devise mitigation strategies within the relevant tariffs and processes.

• Lead the WECC Interconnection team through the complete development and execution lifecycle of projects.

• Assist in the execution of both new and acquired projects across the United States.

• Evaluate system analyses, estimate study-process budgets and timelines, and coordinate technical documentation with both internal and external stakeholders.

• Review utility report scopes of work, costs, and timelines; pinpoint efficiencies and negotiate interconnection, engineering, and procurement contracts.

• Lead or support internal teams in fulfilling transmission-owner requirements and integrating transmission-owner timelines into construction schedules.

• Oversee the daily interconnection-process tasks and project-management tracking tools of direct reports.

• Generate and present regular reports to management and internal teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in renewable or traditional energy development, or transmission planning.

• Proficiency in analyzing power flow and system impact studies for the interconnection of utility-scale solar, wind, and battery storage generating facilities.

• Familiarity with the interconnection request package and all necessary submission components.

• Knowledge of transmission systems and expansion plans in the United States.

• Understanding of Open Access Transmission Tariffs and Generator Interconnection Procedures for assigned region(s).

• Experience in project management.

• Previous work experience with a utility TRO/ISO or consultants providing services within the targeted area is highly preferred.

• Some travel may be required (approximately 20%).
