This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Evaluate document collections, formats, and quality to identify suitable OCR and processing techniques.
• Set up and optimize OCR, image preprocessing, and layout analysis functionalities.
• Create document classification methods, taxonomies, and processing guidelines.
• Formulate structured field extraction schemas, metadata mappings, validation criteria, and extraction logic.
• Establish confidence scores, acceptance levels, exception criteria, and requirements for human review.
• Design and facilitate exception handling and human validation workflows.
• Assist with duplicate detection and maintain document quality controls.
• Develop or support automated workflows for newly added or modified documents, covering ingestion, classification, extraction, validation, and exception routing.
• Define, assess, and enhance OCR quality, classification accuracy, and field extraction precision.
• Document processing configurations, quality outcomes, known limitations, validation procedures, and operational instructions.
• Collaborate with platform, data, security, quality assurance, AI search, and Government subject matter experts within the framework established by the Microsoft Cloud Solution Architect / Technical Lead.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, information systems, engineering, or a related technical field.
• A minimum of five years of pertinent experience in document processing, data engineering, automation, machine learning, or a similar technical domain.
• At least two years of practical experience with OCR, intelligent document processing, document classification, structured data extraction, or similar technologies.
• Experience in processing scanned, image-based, degraded, digitally generated, or mixed-format document collections.
• Proven track record in developing document classification, field extraction, validation, or metadata processing capabilities.
• Familiarity with implementing confidence scoring, exception handling, validation rules, or human-in-the-loop review processes.
• Experience in testing and assessing OCR, classification, or extraction performance using established quality metrics.
• Must be a US Citizen.
• Capability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.
• Preferred: experience with Azure AI Document Intelligence or similar intelligent document processing platforms.
• Preferred: experience in automating document processing workflows using APIs, scripts, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Power Automate, or equivalent technologies.
• Preferred: experience in integrating document processing capabilities with document repositories, databases, content management systems, or cloud platforms.
• Preferred: experience supporting Federal Government, Government cloud, or other regulated environments.
