This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana.
• Handle provider inquiries both via phone and electronically regarding preauthorization for inpatient admissions as well as outpatient services and procedures.
• Confirm benefits, eligibility, and the status of provider networks.
• Uphold and enhance a positive company image through telephonic and electronic interactions with both internal and external customers.
• Achieve performance targets set for staff and units, along with departmental productivity objectives.
• Collect member clinical information, input relevant case details, and adhere to departmental protocols for service authorization.
• Transfer cases and clinical information to the appropriate Utilization Review team when the approval cannot be granted as per process.
• Oversee authorizations to reduce healthcare disruptions, standardize decision timelines, and meet the needs of providers and members.
• Handle verbal notifications and written documentation in accordance with regulatory and operational standards.
• Stay informed about business lines, applicable laws and regulations, data exchange code sets, medical terminology, computer systems, and Care Management and URAC policies and procedures.
• Complete special assignments and projects as directed by management.
• Adhere to laws and regulations relevant to job responsibilities.
• Perform additional job-related tasks within the defined scope of responsibilities.
• High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
• Minimum of 1 year of call center experience or prior knowledge of health insurance pre-service authorization is required.
• Exceptional listening, reading, comprehension, and both oral and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal abilities.
• Capability to multitask, work independently, and prioritize various customer concerns.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Familiarity with medical terminology is essential.
• Ability to communicate verbally over the phone in a call center setting approximately 95% of the time.
• Must be able to sit at a desk and handle calls for extended periods with predetermined breaks.
• Experience with Facets is preferred.
• Must be authorized to work for Louisiana Blue in the United States without requiring employer-sponsored immigration support.
• Successful completion of background checks and pre-employment drug screening is required.
