This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Collaborate with faculty subject matter experts to create course plans, establish learning outcomes, develop assessment maps, and outline course structure.
• Draft course guides or blueprints that include instructional narratives, activities, assessments, rubrics, and resource links.
• Review and formulate learning outcomes utilizing Bloom's Taxonomy and associated frameworks.
• Create formative and summative assessments, knowledge checks, and engaging learning activities.
• Prepare media plans and liaise with media producers and interactive developers.
• Implement client templates, style guides, terminology, and design standards.
• Ensure compliance with accessibility standards as per WCAG 2.1 AA and address any accessibility issues.
• Conduct regular working sessions with subject matter experts, including weekly meetings.
• Participate in project and client calls as dictated by the project or contractual obligations.
• Track task status in the client's project management system, typically ClickUp.
• Manage course review and approval processes, routing deliverables to designated reviewers.
• Evaluate constructed courses in the LMS against approved blueprints, document fixes, verify corrections, and provide sign-off prior to client delivery.
• Identify and communicate risks related to schedule, communication, and scope in a timely manner.
• Proven experience in designing courses for higher education, K-12, or workforce learning and development.
• Completion of at least one full course from outline to delivery.
• Proficiency with learning management systems, especially Canvas and Brightspace.
• Capability to collaborate with and lead relationships with faculty subject matter experts.
• Comfort in engaging in client-facing discussions, including articulating constraints or declining unsuitable requests.
• Strong, structured writing skills.
• Competence in adhering to client style guides, templates, terminology, and design standards.
• Ability to self-manage and meet deadlines while working in a distributed team environment.
• Degree in education, instructional design, instructional technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.1 AA.
• Preferred: Familiarity with Articulate Storyline or Rise, H5P, or other interactive development tools.
• Preferred: Understanding of Quality Matters or similar course design standards.
• Preferred: Experience utilizing AI tools within a design workflow.
• Preferred: Background in business, criminal justice, education, psychology, health sciences, or data analytics.
• Contracted on a per-course basis under a work-for-hire agreement.
• Compensation includes a fixed fee per course upon reaching defined milestones and acceptance of each deliverable.
• Defined review cycles are included within the fee structure.
• Revisions within the specified revision window are also included.
• Contract amendments available for work that exceeds the included scope or for changes post sign-off.
• Flexibility in course volume based on capacity (one or multiple courses).
• Remote work arrangement available.
• Utilize Google Workspace, Slack, project management system, and client LMS.
• Access to AI tools, including Alchemy’s proprietary platform.
