Instructional Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +10 more states.

📋 Description

• Work collaboratively with subject matter experts to assess learning needs and define suitable learning objectives and student outcomes for both new and updated distance learning courses.

• Develop course and program documentation, encompassing course blueprints, design documents, project plans, curriculum maps, and additional necessary materials.

• Locate and acquire digital textbooks and other resources for students.

• Identify, storyboard, and script video or multimedia resources.

• Implement instructional design principles, adult learning theories, and accessibility standards to produce student-centered content.

• Design and create engaging and interactive online course materials, which include multimedia components, authentic assessments, examinations, discussions, and various instructional activities.

• Construct course shells, syllabi, home pages, modules, interactives, and lessons within Canvas using course-authoring tools.

• Obtain and secure licenses for external media, ensuring proper citation of resources.

• Assist and support the Academic Quality Assurance process.

• Remain updated with emerging trends and technologies in instructional design and distance education.

• Aid in troubleshooting and resolving course access and functionality issues for faculty and students.

• Engage in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.

• Collaborate with Curriculum Staff to create, revise, and publish standard operating procedures.

• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instructional Design or a related field is required.

• If the college degree is in an area other than curriculum and instructional design, a certificate or equivalent evidence of formal training in instructional design, eLearning, or a related field, totaling at least 16 credit hours (720 clock hours) of education is necessary.

• A minimum of three years of professional experience in instructional design is required.

• At least one year of professional instructional design experience in a higher education setting is essential.

• Advanced understanding of adult learning principles and distance education methodologies.

• Hands-on experience with learning management systems and course-authoring software.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills, with the ability to independently see projects through to successful completion within set deadlines.

• Some travel may be necessary (up to 10%).
