Instructional Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to create and develop engaging online courses.

• Utilize instructional design principles to organize content and craft relevant, captivating learning experiences.

• Assist SMEs in evaluating and determining suitable instructional strategies, tools, and assessments to achieve desired learning outcomes.

• Ensure that course content adheres to Excelsior’s design standards, accessibility regulations, and best practices in online education.

• Work alongside media developers to produce course materials, such as videos, simulations, and interactive components.

• Review and refine course content to ensure clarity, coherence, and alignment with educational objectives.

• Partner with instructional designers to improve course development methodologies and resources.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related discipline.

• Over 3 years of experience in designing and developing online courses for higher education.

• Strong understanding of instructional design models (e.g., Backward Design, Bloom’s Taxonomy).

• Knowledge of best practices for online learning and adult education.

• Capability to guide SMEs in organizing content for effective online delivery.

• Experience with learning management systems (LMS), preferably Canvas.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.

• Capacity to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

• Preferred: Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field.

• Preferred: Experience in developing courses for non-traditional, adult learners.

• Preferred: Previous experience working in a centralized course development model.

• Preferred: Knowledge of accessibility standards and universal design for learning (UDL).

• Preferred: Experience utilizing data and learner analytics to enhance course quality.
